Preface, I don’t post a lot but read mostly. I search for posts/threads that relate to how I feel about the state of our team. I’m 43, remember the first time I cried over a sporting event in 92, been obsessed ever since. We’ve had highs and lows, as expected, but the unfamiliar emotion of indifference is what concerns me the most. What made Kentucky basketball stand in such high regard was the collective passion of our commonwealth and fans across the county. It was something that united us, and it was unique to us. Even after an early round exit from the tourney, we grieved and turned toward the optimism of the following yr. The optimism is now gone, even if we signed the top 5 players on the country I wouldn’t be optimistic about an upcoming basketball season. Not with calipari. I understand with nil the game has changed, and the glory days are over. But man, I would give anything for just one more year of having a team that played for each other and the name on the front of the jersey. I honestly wouldn’t even care how the season ended, would just enjoy a team that looked like they were playing for one another.
