Willie Taggart in FOUR years:
South Florida --> Oregon --> Florida State --> Florida Atlantic

What is the case for Willie Taggart being a terrible coach? I must have missed it. Pretty sure he's had a very strong career so far!
How is there any comparison? Charlie Strong was fired at 2 of his 3 coaching jobs. Willie Taggart however improved every season at every school he Head Coached.
willie hasn’t impressed me since USF. He was meh at Oregon and FSU ended up hating him. Improved? I guess. FSU has become a door mat
Taggart literally improved every season. I have no idea why you or anyone else would feel he did a bad job at Oregon when he almost doubled their wins in his only season there. Is there something I'm missing?

FSU was clearly already heading in the wrong direction when Jimbo quit. Taggart was tasked with replacing the only two coaches in FSU's history to win national titles. There's no excuse for firing him after 1.5 yrs. Programs like that deserve to struggle.

I think it is a terrible hire for CSU. It reminds me of when Eichorst hired Riley. No imagination and little effort. Colorado State is just throwing away its program for at least the next 3-5 years. I think in the Mountain West you need to get a younger, energetic coach and not a retread
Who cares. Colorado St. is bad, and never have been a name. It's like if San Diego St. makes a mediocre hire. Who really cares?
I remember back in the late 90's when Colorado St was the Boise of college football. Man times have changed a lot since then.
I don't remember that. They had a couple good years, but I don't think they consistently lose only 1-2 games a year like Boise.
No kidding. Rams could have just hired John Wristen from CSU-Pueblo or Gregg Brandon from School of Mines and they would have gotten less pushback. Not saying those guys would have success at CSU, but I like their chances better than this retread.
Yeah they weren't on the same level as Boise but like Boise, they were the main small school that no one wanted to play. They were beating Colorado annually when Colorado was starting to cause us fits.
He's never beaten a top 20 team. The guy has fallen up for a reason but it isn't because of having a great resume.
He might not be cut out for Power 5 football, but he took Western Kentucky from 0 wins to 7 wins in 2 years, and USF from 3 wins to 10 wins in 4 years. So a smaller program like FAU seems like a good fit for him.
Even at Oregon. They were 4-8 the year before he got there. He almost doubled their wins in one season. That should be considered success!
Florida St happened to be falling apart before he got there. Just like every other coaching job, he increased his winning percentage from year 1 to year 2. The worst thing about Taggart as FSU was having to replace Jimbo and Bowden while the program was already declining.
