Despite spending half a billion dollars on football over the last five years, TCU is still not even close to Georgia, much less Alabama.

And to put that into perspective, depending upon how you tally the figures, Alabama spends more than anyone else on college football. Georgia is second. But the distance between Alabama’s spending and Georgia’s spending, on football alone, is greater than the entire athletic budget of the University of Tulsa. Again, depending upon how you tally spending.

Saban is brilliant. He would have been less brilliant at Eastern Michigan. Nobody thought he was brilliant at the Dolphins. At all.
