Northwestern is small up front. CJ Gettys played well in the 2nd game against NWU this year.

Game 2 - 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 TO. I think Rutgers needs to get him in the low post a lot more this game and Gettys needs to stay out of foul trouble. I also want to see him make all of the chippys close to the basket.....PLEASE make them.

And I assume that they'll double him immediately, as other teams have done, but he's done a good job of passing out of it and then resetting for a return pass.

One key will be the combination of Freeman/Thiam/Laurent/Doorson/Sa scoring more than the 5 points they managed last outing.

To reduce turnovers they need to stop throwing high speed passes his way.

if they can limit the three pointers NW nails and we rebound like i know we can this is winnable. All about their mind set and hustle tonight. Defense will be key. We are bigger.

Expect Williams and Sanders to bounce back. Love the rotation and assistance provided by ou rbench last night. Keep the momentum going!.

I've missed a few games recently, but, is it true that the doubling of Gettys is a recent strategy ? I don't recall a lot of double teams in early Big 10 games.

My Two:

Deshawn knowing where the double is coming from and kicking out or bouncing interior;
Issa getting us a couple of (I wanna say "three") 3s.

Off top of my head he was doubled on left block once last night that I remember

Yes, there has been a lot more doubling of Gettys down low in the last few games, not letting him get into his usual back-to-the-basket moves. He's handled it fairly well - but the team really needs to be better at moving the ball quickly to the open shooter once he passes out of the double team.

They did it the first 2-3 times he touched the ball on the block in the first half, but went away from it in the second half and he scored a couple of easier buckets.

Pardon got a ton of layups and dunks last game -- have to tighten that up. Way too many easy baskets
