They could, because that might take away a bid from the 11th place team in the Big 10.

The American Champion of the regular season should never be denied a bid. This is a much tougher league than C-USA and the one bid leagues. Wichita had a quad one win against Houston and only one bad loss ( today). Memphis had 0 quad one wins and 2 really bad losses ( Tulsa)

Part of what gives the conference no respect is none of the teams that get into the tournament ever do anything. They're constantly failing expectations in the tourney. Houston made it to the sweet sixteen once, and that's it. Otherwise our teams are out in 2nd amd most of the time 1st round.
