Disagree. Who's he backed it up against? Great season last year, but not enough for him to talk some of the smack he does. Id like to see him beat somebody first.
They won 11 games. If we played their same schedule with the same results, we'd talk **** to everyone. I agree they didn't play a great schedule, but they blew basically everyone out.

Basically blew everyone out...except the good teams that absolutely dominated them from start to finish.

Super impressive.

No ill will towards Cignetti, I believe his team could have hung 70+ on us that day if they wanted. Let’s also not forget that this game made Rhule question both the OC position and his approach to the transfer portal.

Man, I won't feel one iota of guilt about talking **** if Nebraska could thread the needle of weak schedule = 11 wins. Given that Nebraska has been losing to below-average B1G teams for years (including last year), you won't find me minimizing what Indiana did. Until proven otherwise, so far Cignetti > any coach Nebraska has had since TO.

Also, not saying it would have changed their record, but O'Rourke hurt his hand badly against Nebraska and wasn't the same after.

They made the playoffs, we haven't sniffed a chance of the playoffs and he did it in year 1? Against OSU the game was close til the 4th and IN played notre dame a little better than GA did. Cig is who we thougt frost was going to be.

I don't understand all the bawling from either the Big Ten or the SEC about automatic bids. Last year, every deserving Big Ten team not only made the playoffs, but Penn State (which had no signature wins at all) received a cakewalk to the Final Four. The only Big Ten team that kind of got the shaft was Oregon, due to some stupid seeding decisions.

The Big 2 conferences should put their money where there mouth is and argue for the 16 best teams to make the playoffs. No auto-bids needed.

I have no idea what point you're attempting to make here. I didnt make comparisons between Nebraska and Indiana. I simply pointed out that Indiana was dog walked by the couple of good teams they played last year. Thoroughly and utterly dominated each time (though they did score some garbage time points to make the box score look okay).

So I'd like to see more of Indiana before I buy into the 2025 hype. That's all.

It was 28-7 going into the 4th and 31-7 until like two minutes left in the game against OSU. I wouldn't say they played ND better than Georgia did either, especially with Georgia playing a backup QB.. Doesn't take away from their season and them boat racing Nebraska

Indiana manhandled us but at least we gave OSU a game.

Huh? What reality are you living in. They had a solid opening drive against OSU and then were thoroughly dominated from there on out. OSU scored 28 unanswered points in the 2nd and 3rd. So I have no idea where youre getting this "close until the 4th quarter" nonsense.

Indiana was also absolutely manhandled by ND. They scored a couple of TDs in garbage time to make the box look better, but they were never in that game.

Winning 11 games and making the playoffs is impressive. Especially for a 1st year coach at Indiana. It's not like he is a first year guy at a football power... This is Indiana we are talking about. I agree, looked bad against OSU and ND but I'd take those results in a heartbeat right now. If you told me for this upcoming year that we would win 11 games, blow all of the bottom feeders out, lose to the best team in the conference, but make the playoff. Sign me up. We've had zero relevancy whatsoever for a long time and something like that would have Nebraska right back in the National conversation again. But yeah, not impressive.

You said he has zero reason to run his mouth. He has plenty of reason to run it. Everything I have said backs that. I hope he continues to talk ****
I said he hasn't done enough to justify as much smack talk as hes doing. And yes. Ill stand by that again. What win under his belt impresses you? Where is he "backing it up" as the OP suggested? Dont get me wrong id love to win 11 games as well. But if we did so beating up G5 teams, im not thrilled if Rhule starts chest bumping to the SEC over it.

Who's kidding who? Nebraska's been talking **** for years now. God only knows how much trash would have been talked if Frost and Bill Moose had won 10 games in a season.

In year 1, he comes in an runs his mouth and in what considered to be one of the two best conferences he goes 8-1 and only loses to the eventual National Champion as the coach of a perennial doormat. In the wins, Michigan is the only one that was remotely close, and the only reason, was they still had a salty D that kept them in the game with 3 high end draft picks. Everyone laughed at him last year when he said he was going to win. Guess what.. He backed it up and got to the playoff. He thinks he has a better roster this year, so why would he shut up? I literally have no idea how you get to the point where you think Cignetti can't justify his talk. He's won everywhere he has been and proves his doubters wrong. Like I said, this is Indiana... If he was running his mouth after taking over Ohio St. that has the best of the best of everything and then bows out to ND you may have a point, but this is Indiana and he's definitely backed up by having their best season ever in history in year 1.
Would he have had to win the National Title for you to back up his talk? Sheesh man. Such a weird take here. His 8 conference wins came by an average of 29 points. Nope didn't back **** up....

What in the holy hell are you talking about. I'm specifically telling you what it would take for me to respect him. 1 good win. Thats it. 1 single win of quality. One. Juan.

I have never once down played the success of last season. Youre consistently making up points of argument in your own head and then asking me to answer for them.

Try coming at me about things Ive actually said ITT. Show me his statement win and I'll drop my point. Otherwise, kindly be on your merry way.

You are onto something. Coach Rhule needed that game for the two reasons you mentioned, and we should be better this year for it.
