This would be another nice piece. WHY? Another guy with length and long arms to go along with Dailey and Thiam. Length and long arms are so important in basketball. Something that Rutgers has lacked for a long time, since the Waters era.

I just watched a highlight AAU video on the verbalcommits site and came away more than apathetic about the play that I watched. Very weak to the rim. Barely saw much shooting away from the rim and his release didn't look clean. Time to find some different videos to feel better about this recruit. (I'm FAR from a negative poster, which is what scares me about this. One video of a couple games isn't the best way to judge him though.)

Ohams has offers from Providence, VCU, Rhody, DePaul in addition to RU

RU over Rhody, that's impossible, there is no way a good prospect could choose Eddie Jordan over Dan Hurley, who we all know is basketball royalty and the would be savior of RU basketball. But maybe, just maybe this young man and his family see a better opportunity at RU under Coach Jordan.

Not sure what film you were watching. But I watched this and it made me excited to see Chuba Ohams choose to be a student athlete at Rutgers University. Looks like he can shoot and get to the basket with touch and authority.

Thanks, that video is a lot better than the video I was watching (more shooting). That being said, he still has to get a lot stronger around the rim.

I'll try to find the video I was looking at.

Philly, the video you watched was from 2014. This kid has absolutely blown up this year.

We need some thick Bodies up front... There lengthy skinny guys don't have a shot against the big bodies in the B1G, especially with Freeman and Shaq future unknown

While there are exceptions most of those big bodies in the B1G were once "lengthy skinny guys" like Ohams. They are now 4th and 5th year players who are the beneficiaries of S&C, optimum nutrition and genetic maturity that comes with the continuity of being in a program over a significant period of time. We as a fanbase need to realize/accept that reality.

That makes a lot more sense. And now I am cheerful again (as have I with a few of the recruits we've picked up lately). Gotta build that depth at the 2/3. Now we focus at the 4/5 again.

When a player of Sanders caliber was mentioned as a recruit I got excited. For the most part Rutgers mainly attracts complementary type players who aren't talented enough to change the status quo.I don't think B1G opponents are worried about Rutgers recruiting because there are no difference makers.

Another 3. Rather see someone a little more, uh, bulky, than this kid. RU could really use a little mobile heft up front, whether a 3 or a 4.

I hope we get em. Much bigger opportunity and stage at RU than two mediocre programs like Fordham and Long Beach State.

and both are better programs than RU right now...Fordham is still not all that good but has improved substantially.

So is VCU, Rhode Island, DePaul, VCU and South Carolina.

Not every offer is committable on the spot.

I'm not trying to spin this. He would be a nice but raw developmental prospect at Big Ten level.

Any non 4-star has to be developed and well coached. At some point that's all that matters not the colleges that have offered.

Try to find stats on Ohams and tell me he's someone to stress over. Upside but production wasn't there this year

I'm not that upset over a kid I hadn't heard of until recently. It's a little disturbing that the kid had a Rutgers offer and picked Fordham though. I can't imagine he thought he couldn't complete for a spot on this team. Oh well, not losing sleep over this one.

Rutgers is recruiting a more productive forward than Ohams. Not a deal breaker.
Even a known Mr. Negative ,like me, suspects that the RU staff pulled back and has someone it likes better. I have no problem in waiting for Mr. X if he is at least 6-8 and 210 pounds and can get from one end to the other more than a couple times before he needs a blow.
