The guy didn't have his best stuff last night. No one doubts that. I hate it for him and the team and all the fans as well.

No one feels the weight of it more than him. I promise.

But it's pretty disgusting that so many fans, on message boards and twitter and elsewhere, have taken the opportunity to take out frustrations on MacLeod and absolutely **** on the guy. It's not his fault he was left out there that long. I guarantee he wanted to throw strikes and get the win for his team. It's okay to say he was off.. that he made mistakes... that he was nervous on a big stage.

But the outright attacks on him that some of us have made are honestly surprising.

Going forward, we have two more games. Not every batter will get a hit when he is at the plate. Not every pitch will hit the right spot. But all of those guys in the Maroon and White are trying their hardest to win two ball games against Vanderbilt to win Mississippi State a national championship so we all can celebrate together. Get behind them... even when they're not at their best.

I was thinking the same thing earlier. You have to feel for that kid. Wish people could put themselves in his shoes. Or his parent's. You can bet Lemonis and Foxhall were hurting for him too, while trying to figure out how to win this series. Not to even mention his teammates who know the kid's a really good pitcher who did his part to get them to this point.

Some of our fans can really act like ******** when things don't go our way. But, again, put yourself in their shoes... they are Mississippi State fans. It sucks sometimes.

It would be nice for him to celebrate a win on the field after game 3. My heart couldn’t take seeing him in the pen this year. I wish him the best of luck next year.

Nope. I appreciate what he's done to get us to this point, and I hate what's happened to him in the last few games, but I don't want him touching a baseball again this season.

It would make for a nice story, but it's not realistic.

As last night showed, we have too many, far more dependable, arms in the bullpen. They deserve a shot to be a CWS hero. If we get far enough down the line that McLeod - coming off almost no rest after a 40+ pitch disaster, is our best option, we have already lost.

All that being said, I hope CMac goes on to be an all-star, and last night was just a blip on the radar.

He went out there a Bulldog and he’s still a Bulldog. Every State fan should go listen to Tanner Allen’s press conference after the game.

He’s one of those guys that I can’t help but cheer for. I really hope he gets it figured out. I can’t imagine how he felt last night. It’s easy to forget that these guys, all of them, are our guys. They all chose MSU. The least we can do is respect them even when they are at their worst.

Yeah I can be pretty salty, downright petty, but talking **** to a player on your favorite team for playing poorly is low. Maybe it would be fair if the player did something unsportsmanlike and it cost the team a game but being in a slump isn’t a reason to take verbal assaults from ****** fans.

I hope he comes back to campus and becomes the first rounder we all thought/hoped he would be.

He’s technically a COVID redshirt freshman this year, so still plenty of leverage if his draft stock has fallen.
