Can somebody give me some insight on Chester graves. #1 juco player in the country plays an hour from NU. AND he would fill the biggest need Skers have!!!! Help please, and be specific..if he has "issues" what kind of issues does he have. Osborne always got those "issues" players on the field.

I have always wondered about Graves but I don’t know if he’s even took any visits yet and what’s the deal there. Great talent and reminds me of Randy G. At DE/OLB. Maybe grade issues still?? And I wouldn’t go as far as saying Osborne “ALWAYS” got the problem players on the field. I know the whole Phillips issue and talk. Tom will have that talked about for ever behind his back. He won’t ever live that one down. He made a choice and wrong or right, I back coach Osbornes choice. There probably is more but that’s the only issue that comes to mind. I agree, Graves would be great addition, but things about him have been absolutely quiet.

If we have tried and he is not interested..then fine. BUT I havent heard a peep about him and NU. Plus there is another underlying issue..we dont EVER get players from IWCC and they are a top juco in the country.

It might be because we aren’t exactly on top of him. Looks like he’s only got Mizzou set up for a visit. That could change but that’s all he’s lined up so far per Rivals.
Right...Mizzou is where he was commited coming out of HS, and players RARELY go to the school they were originally commited to. I am just wondering if we have TRIED.

It show we offered but it’s very well possible it wasn’t committable. Maybe he’s got grade issues or couldnt sign early and Frost didn’t fully pull the trigger. With a talent like Graves, it makes one wonder why he’s not even visit.

Looks like it was Ole Miss and not Mizzu, but I could be wrong.

Gotta have a good feel on your trigger break. That's why I've always preferred hammer-strike over the striker-fired.

0% chance even if he was given the full court press.

Nebraska inquired about Graves, but he has no interest in the Huskers at all. He wants to go to an SEC or southern school. I believe there are also rumors that he is an academic risk.

“Iowa Western has been sending 15 to 18 players to FBS schools, on average, every year since 2012.”

I also saw somewhere(Twitter???) the other day that in the 9 years that IWCC has had football, they have sent something like 18 QB's to the next level, with 12 of them being FBS/FCS. I may be a little off on my numbers, but I am pretty sure it is in that range. I do know that they have put 123 players in D1 in their 9 years of existence. I would be interested to know how that compares to other big time JUCOs.

We went out there this summer to look and I think the staff left with the understanding that he wasn’t in the cards for NU. Staff kicked the tires and got what they needed to.

Makes sense. Not smart and wants to play in the south. The two go hand in hand.

There are 130ish FBS schools. Get me the P5 numbers and the schools routinely in the top 25.

Sending a bunch of kids to Ball St is great for the school and the kids, but not necessarily Nebraska.

Juss sayin’

Dont know who you are referring to...but they are sending players to POWER 5 schools routinely. The player this post is a about is the #1 juco player in the country..who happens to play our the position of our biggest need.

“Iowa Western has been sending 15 to 18 players to FBS schools, on average, every year since 2012.”

Who wrote that sentence? An average is a SINGLE number, not a range of four numbers. How hard was it to add up the numbers from 2012 to 2017 and divide by six?

You have to remember we are talking about something written by a sportswriter. It's not as if that statement was written by someone who has the chops to get a real job. God forbid should someone ask of the writer to give a median rather than an average. That might cause a brain aneurism.

I’m talking about Iowa Western. I think my post was pretty clear. If you need to read it again, after reading this post, please do.

It doesn’t matter that he is the #1 juco to ever play the game of football and can play all 11 defensive positions at the same time. Chester Graves has never had, and currently does not have, any interest in Nebraska. I didn’t think jumping in an saying the same thing as Kaz was really necessary. But apparently I was wrong.

Hey Sassy Tuco, dont know what got your Panties in a bunch. You mentioned IWCC "sending a bunch of kids to Ball St." I informed you that they are sending kids to every power 5 school conference. Have a drink buddy, TGIF!

The Athletic Director is hired by the University President. He hires a head coach and in this case has the blessing of just about every fan at Nebraska.

If the head coach goes after a player or not is his decision. They don’t owe fans an explanation of why they do or do not.

The internet has empowered too many fans to think they are owed an explanation.

Let the people hired in these roles do their jobs. Judge the performance of these leaders however you want - wins and losses, graduation rates, developers of men, etc. beyond that, let them do their thing and be a good fan without thinking you’re entitled to insider information, because as a fan, we aren’t.
