Alabama at OU today. I will be cheering for OU.
I know many on here hate OU but I don’t. As an old fart I still have a nostalgia for our old Big 8 rivals and those epic games. It was a respectful rivalry.

I'll be cheering for OU as well. I also have fond memories of "the team I love to hate", the Sooners, going back to the old Big 8. I only hated them when they played us, as they ruined a lot of Thanksgivings for me when I was young.

They won't win, but of course I'm cheering for them. I don't consider myself an old fart, but I miss many things about the days when OU was a part of my college football fandom. I've had drinks with Switzer twice. One time was A LOT of drinks. Both times, he could not have been cooler and was as complimentary of TO as it gets. I'd give just about anything to snag them from the SEC and get back into the Big 12 to put college football back in its rightful place.

I don’t hate OU but dislike them. But I also share your sentiment. I really do miss the days of the Big-8!

Now Texas is a team I hate!

Agreed! A lot of nice match ups today. Army and ND could be interesting. Indiana and Ohio State. CU at Kansas. Penn State at Minnesota. And a game I always liked to watch as a kid, UCLA vs. USC.

The good ol days. Even if we were their little brother those were the times and when it meant something. Now you can suck and still make money

they are looking for dan mullen as oc I think

Is this another one of your, "I'll be damned, redwine had some inside info and knew exactly what the hell he was talking about" posts...or one of your "just throwing **** against the wall, which really isn't that big of a reach, and if it sticks, I'll be right" posts? Hard to tell with you sometimes ☺️

I share alot of the feelings as the OP, but Its alot easier after all the years that have passed to reflect, be nostalgic, and root for the Sooners. Back in the 70s and 80s, though, the hate ran deep. Even when the bigger villain showed up - the Hurricanes, as a Husker fan, there was still a sense of reward watching the Sooners take it in shorts against a program that did to them what they had done for years to other programs - out athlete them. There was always respect, but I suspect if there was social media back in those days we would have hated OU even more - can you imagine what characters like Bosworth would have done with a social media platform?

I will be as well. Before we left the B12 I do think I could have ever imagined myself going for the gloomer Sooners but I Hate the SEC and the ESPN bias for them. So hopefully Oklahoma and Texas bring them all to reality and they realize the B10 and B12 were always the better conferences.

OU gets the beat down they deserve!!! Not a ‘Bama fan, but Boomer Sooner can suck it forever!
Then LSU beats them next week, and no bowl for them, perfect ending for me!

Bama’s going to win but I think OU defense keeps it close to the spread..

I'm a fan of Bama's coach and hate OU. I'll be rooting for Bama to just be good enough for their coach to keep his job. I believe we could have had him.....

If you lived in Oklahoma you would not like OU.

Fans are tremendous blowhards who spend most of their time whining about Lincoln Riley and thinking they’ve been neck and neck with Alabama the last couple decades.

Couldn’t see a more deserving fanbase sink into irrelevancy.

OU, missing their #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5 wide receivers, and three offensive linemen, physically manhandled Alabama, holding the Crimson Tide to 3 points and 234 total yards.

Although they have been decimated by injuries and had a horrible season by OU's standards, they kept their consecutive bowl streak alive at 26 years. A lot of teams would have packed it in, but OU kept fighting through the adversity.

Nebraska/Oklahoma in a bowl game to end the year, make it so.
Wouldn’t that be an absolutely special bowl game? I think both fan bases need that right now… neither are going to a playoff so why not make something amazing out of this and give the fans what they want!

OU has no shortage of talent, and last night was proof of that. Don't know how many coaches will stay or go, but they should be pretty good if the coaching can get better and avoid a lot of injuries.

OU isn't our friend. Sure, they might hang out if their 10 better friends are out of town and they are bored, but we need to stop pretending they we are friends. They are addicted to Longhorn cock and that's all they really care about.

I always cheer for old Big Eight teams when they don't play us. Happy for the Sooners beating Bama. The one exception to this rule is Missouri. For some reason I have never liked Missouri.

I've been to every home and away NU/OU game since 1978 and will be there again if we play them in a bowl game!

Colorado for me. If the 1986 Miami Hurricanes were somehow resuscitated with Jimmy Johnson accepting Jameis Winston as his top NIL portal pick, I’d still root for them to win a bowl game if they were playing Colorado.

I feel the same. I have never liked Missouri
Mizzou was the first Husker game my father took me to and we lost that day to Devine 16-14 but I never disliked them but losing 13-12 in Columbia and 35-31 in Lincoln which knocked us off for playing in the national title game were tough games to swallow.

People for forget after the 78 game Mizzou wouldn’t beat Nebraska again till 2003..

That loss to Missouri in 1978 remains for me the greatest and most crushing defeat of the Tom Osborne era, rivaled only by our loss to Miami in 83. Were you in Lincoln Scarlet when we beat OU in 78, stormed the field, tore down the goal posts and then paraded them down O street all night? I was there for that. Sophomore in college. And we were all completely euphoric. We were on cloud nine. Finally beat OU!! And all we had to do was beat Missouri and off we would go to play Alabama for the national championship. But our defense was shot after giving it their all against OU. They were exhausted and physically beat up. And James Wilder came in an ran all over us and Missouri stole one from us. Why in the Hell was OU not our last game of the regular season that year? With only one or two exceptions they were always our last game. Ugh. I will never forgive Missouri for that win.
