Changing the flag isn't about changing history

Several of the arguments brought up by those that want to keep the flag that drive me nuts, short trip

1. "You are taking away my history." No one can take your history or change the past but we can change the future.

2. "Changing the flag won't fix xy&z." Will it fix all of problems? No but it will fix that problem. Will changing a flat tire fix an engine that leaks oil? No but we still have to change the tire.

3. "What will "they" want to change next?" First who the 17 is "they"? Second things will continue to change. Everything changes nothing is permanent.

4. "They are taking away my right to vote on the flag." That's the way a republic works. We elect people to represent us that pass all sorts of laws that we don't vote on.

Still waiting on someone to explain to me how you can support the current Mississippi flag and be against kneeling during the national anthem. I’ll hang up and listen.

I used to laugh at the old dude that would march on game days with the US Flag, the state flag and a sign about vets. I wanted to ask him "You understand that part of the state flag represents a group of people that wanted to be a separate country?"

Funny thing about History; it can be made but not changed.

Changing the flag MAKES history.

Responded to a guy using #1 that changing the flag was no more removing our history than changing from ceiling fans to air conditioners or outhouses to indoor bathrooms did.
