I’m connecting through LaGuardia on my way to Omaha, wearing my “Nebraska Huskers National Champions 1993-94” hat. A large man gate agent asks me how far back I go. I say early Devaney. He asks me to name the three greatest Husker DL.

I say Suh … hesitate for a second … then Glover. He lights up. He’s Glover’s son! (Didn’t have to come up with a number three.)

We talked a little about the great middle guard, then about this week. He says he thinks Rhule's got things going in the right direction.

Man. I’m in NYC all of two minutes and already I meet a celebrity!

GBR!!

Since he was the gate agent, did this lead to an upgrade? :)

Hope his dad is doing well. Man, that guy was a fantastic player. Hard to even describe how dominant he was.

That was the year I actually starting making memories of NU football and I remember Glover running down the Bama QB at least twice. Rich was faster than their QB.

I had an NFL hall of fame RB buy me a drink in a bar when he was playing in his prime and just weeks after his 4th straight Super Bowl.

A one man tackling machine. 22 unassisted tackles in that game. Brahaney must have had nightmares after that game.

Wasn't a chance meeting, but I was fortunate enough to spend almost an entire day with Arnold Palmer, we drove the golf course and talked about design changes and ideas for make the golf course better. Unfortunatley the "powers to be" did not pull the trigger on his design company's ideas

I forgot about another one. I was in DC at a conference during the Final Four in 2007. Florida was about to win their 2nd title in a row. A bunch of us from the conference were watching the game in the hotel bar. It was also opening day for the Nationals who played earlier in the afternoon that day. Anyway, in walks HOF pitcher Don Sutton, who was calling games for the Nationals on their local TV network. He sits down with us and we were all pretty stoked to meet him we all introduced ourselves, he seemed like a nice enough guy. We are watching the game and making comments as people do when watching the game, questioning decision by the coaches and the players. Then he says something to the effect of none of you would know what it's like to be in that position and you couldn't deal with the pressure. I said wow, sorry to have offended you, you're right, I doubt any of us played for an NCAA title or a World Series. He literally gets up calls me an ******* and said I was arguing with him just to argue. I was floored, we all were just looking at each other in disbelief, like WTF is this guys deal. Not at all what I was expecting from the initial handshake. Turned out to be a major dickhead, well at least for that evening.

I sat with Osborne at Denver Int'l on the train between terminals.
I walked out of my hotel room in flip flops, a ratty cut off National Championship t-shirt, and the oldest gym shorts known to man in Minneapolis years ago when Blo was coaching and we played up there. I’m literally just walking 25 feet to the ice machine. It was like 5 AM and I NEEDED water haha. Out walks TO. I looked at the ground and tried to hide I was a Husker fan.

This guy wins the thread.

My old college band opened for the opener who opened for the opener for Christina Aguilera at the Buffalo county fair years ago. We all had drinks backstage after with her and the band. If that girl is 5’2” I’d be surprised.

You should link his wiki. I’d wager nobody else here besides you know who the hell that is

One of the Godfathers of mountain biking. If you made a Mount Rushmore of the guys who invented mountain bikes, he's on it. Along with Gary Klein and Joe Breeze and Gary Fisher.

I hosted the GetRDone after tournament gathering in 2016 at my bar. In a single room I had Dan (Larry the cable guy), Joe Theisman, David wells, Johnny Rogers, Jim McMahan, Debbie Dunning (the hot brunette from Tim the tool man), Rulon Gardner, Rick Berry, Peewee Harrison and dozens of famous musicians that I can’t remember.

I was doing security when she played at Aksarben. One of the guards asked her manager if we could add one more guest to the meet and greet. Kid with terminal cancer, huge fan. Christina asked, "what, is meeting me going to prolong their life?" No pass for that kid...
She can slide down a giant razorblade

I never talked to her really. Just hung out backstage, and on her bus.

I don’t think people understand just how much money he raises, and how many absolute legends Dan knows. I’ve a been lucky enough to be there for the banquet a couple times. Sat with Ozzie freaking Smith and talked a little current baseball with him. It was so crazy walking in the room and seeing so many legends in their field. Of course that doesn’t stop the resident hateful people that went after him for telling the truth during Covid.
