I did for 2 quarters, plus a wild scramble. Looked deer-in-the-headlightsish for the final 20 minutes

In the first quarter I did but then when we needed him, he turned into AM.

He had a bad 2nd half, but we did nothing to help him after he got us an 11 point lead. D consistently put him in bad spots. Frost frosted him.

I mean, yes it would be nice if every pass was right between the numbers but a little help would be nice. If you get your hands on it, catch it. Big drop off after our starting receivers.

Didn't think CT played bad at all. Definitely better in first half, made a couple bad throws in second half. Interceptions were on the receivers, not on CT imo. Thought Whipple called a fairly good game, don't really care for our run game but it is what it is.

Any QB is going to look bad when there is zero threat in the ground game. Couple that with a just okay pass protection and what you see is what you get.

He hit his receivers in the hands on both interceptions. Not sure what he could have done differently.

A co worker told me he couldn’t tell whether Martinez was bad ‘cause the line was never good. I balked at that and felt we were still getting a better QB in CT. After todays game, I’m thinking he’s right. Our line still sucks and maybe it is the result of bad quarterback play.

Looked great first half, dropped off the second, but at least 6 incomplete passes and 2 picks off of drops are unacceptable. Fire Mickey.

well, don’t fire mickey, but CT wasn’t the reason we lost today. Played well enough to win.

28 points isn’t going to cut it. We can blame the onside kick all we want for the L. But at the end of the day, this offense has issues moving forward regardless of todays outcome
What about the defense giving up 31 points? That played a big part in the loss too.

I would have like to have seen #’s 2, 3,4 +7 never leave the field…
On defense, 42 + 28 should have seen more of the sidelines.. Nick is sloooowwwwwwww. And seems to always be locked up with an o-line man getting his Arz kicked..
I know it’s first game together, but our safeties need to get their coverage reads quicker and tackle in open space a bit better, especially when our middle linebackers play terrible!

Except the thread is about Thompson. Is he good enough or not? The early look is that I like him better than AM.
I think we win today with AM. Call me crazy, but we needed the QB run game today. Thompson had no interest in running the ball on zone read

i thought thompson was awesome. really strong arm. made plays most D1 QBs cant make. made very few mistakes and threw several NFL throws. He's the real deal.

AM would have put the ball on ground at least twice and would never have made half the throws as CT..
CT just needed receivers in 2nd half that are D1 caliber..

Agreed. It's like he's playing at Texass all over again though. Or worse...

I feel like QB is the least of my concerns right now. First, what stupid MFer called that onside kick? Second, why are we completely incapable of pressuring a qb? And third, what stupid MFer called that onside kick? Oh, and I’d also like to know who called that onside kick?

Can’t figure out why we refused to blitz. NW line might be the best in the big ten. We weren’t going to get there with 4 man rush. Chins went vanilla and we paid

This was what I couldn’t figure out. 4 men weren’t getting there, so bring an extra man occasionally, but we almost never did.
