Late game heroics help the Cards from being swept at home for what could have been the first time since 2004.
This one was all but over as they rallied with 2 out in the 9th to get the tying and go ahead runs on one play to win.
What a finish!!

Yeah, and there is plenty of room for improvement. Pluck wins where you can and get some of these youngsters some reps. We had 3 true Freshmen go up against some of the best pitching they've probably ever seen this past weekend.

Tech's pitching was filthy. It's amazing Detmers struck out 16 batters in game one and still took the L. Pretty amazing finish yesterday. To load the bases on walks after two outs in the 9th, then an RBI single with a throwing error to seal the win? Crazy!

Tech's pitching was filthy.
A tale of two pitchers Friday and Saturday. Curry had the Cards chasing pitches up in the zone once he got ahead in the count. It produced 14 fly outs with many of those outs and k's out of the zone.
Contrast that with Thomas(an all ACC pitcher) on Saturday who got ahead in the counts and had us chasing off speed pitches diving low and sometimes out of the zone for 16 ground outs.
Those 2 guys were outstanding. I think knowing their tendencies early in the count is the key. Otherwise, you end up at their mercy.
