The only way I can see that happening is if all the remaining members stay put and they add some teams from the Mountain West like San Diego State, Boise State, and Fresno State.
The MWC would be a bandaid. The B1G and SEC power is too great. PAC and Big12 would need to integrate for both to continue to exist and be relevant. The only way I can see that happening is if all the remaining members stay put and they add some teams from the Mountain West like San Diego State, Boise State, and Fresno State.
What if we never left the big 12? Would it still be the same as it was back then? I must say, all this movement is exhausting and I’m starting to care less, I’d trade usc and ucla for Colorado and Missouri matchups any day. I miss the hate and disdain I use to have for our conference foes, in the B10, I find I’m just hating ourselves more each year.Either the BIG12 will pull schools in from the PAC12 or the PAC12 will grab teams from the BIG12. I think the BIG12 wins out and Arizona and Arizona St. are the first to join the BIG12 then the dominos fall for Colorado and Utah to join. I think it's the only hope the BIG12 has to rebuild the conference.
The PAC12 will have to raid the Mountain West conference to keep the conference alive and by raiding The Mountain West conference, they The Mountain West in turn will become a similar version of the MAC. This will become the most historic moment in College Football and all done for the money, after all it's only business.
I really feel ND is the key to what is about to happen and when it does you will see Washington, Oregon and Stanford be brought into the BIG to form a 20 team conference. Once this happens the SEC will have to expand most likely Clemson, Fla.State, Miami and another school from the ACC, 20 schools to match the BIG, two super conferences are formed.
Anybody still want to go back to the BIG12? In hindsight leaving the BIG12 when we did was the best thing that could have happened for Nebraska even though it's been a very dark and rough road so far.
I don’t understand being willing to give up 30-50million dollars per year with the gap ever widening just to maintain games against Kansas - KSU and Iowa state all for the sake of nostalgia. What if we never left the big 12? Well that depends on what you care more about. Do you care more about Nebraska wins or do you care more that the athletic department is bringing in more money? All these added teams will bring more money but they also bring teams that Nebraska is likely to have losing records against.I don’t understand being willing to give up 30-50million dollars per year with the gap ever widening just to maintain games against Kansas - KSU and Iowa state all for the sake of nostalgia.
it’s funny that all this power 5 conf reshuffling that many declare the death of college sports was actually ignited by Nebraska jumping to the BIG
Thus far, the money has not contributed to wins. As far as NU igniting the reshuffling, that was my point, would everything be the same if we never left?I don’t understand being willing to give up 30-50million dollars per year with the gap ever widening just to maintain games against Kansas - KSU and Iowa state all for the sake of nostalgia.

The move to the big ten and the massive increase in revenue, while temporally related, has nothing to do with Nebraska falling off the cliff in terms of national relevance.Well that depends on what you care more about. Do you care more about Nebraska wins or do you care more that the athletic department is bringing in more money? All these added teams will bring more money but they also bring teams that Nebraska is likely to have losing records against.
Every morning when I wake up I first thank God I'm alive, then thank him we moved to the B1G. As time passes we remember the good times and forget about the bad times. It is easy to get nostalgic about our old rivalries. But we forget about the 11-1 votes, permanent championship game in Texas, biased officiating, sabre rattling about forming the Longhorn Network, sabre rattling about leaving for the PAC-12 and all that. The last year before we left was very unsettling thinking about being left in a conference without UT, OU, Mizzou, and CO.Either the BIG12 will pull schools in from the PAC12 or the PAC12 will grab teams from the BIG12. I think you are overestimating the drop off in that third conference. Compare the Pac12 and SEC now. Would you rather be a perennial 10-2 team in the PAC or a 8-4 team in the SEC?The move to the big ten and the massive increase in revenue, while temporally related, has nothing to do with Nebraska falling off the cliff in terms of national relevance.
if you are going to lose, you might as well earn a **** load of money in the process
going 7-6 and earning 100 million dollars is much more desirable than going 10-3 in a lesser conference and earning 50 million
I would rather be in the SEC regardless of record than the PAC12 based on what things are going to look like 5 years from nowI think you are overestimating the drop off in that third conference. I’m not arguing it’s better to be in the B12 than the B10. But it would probably be more fun to be a Nebraska fan in the B12.
Only if PAC and B12 merge. If not, PAC is likely losing at least Oregon and Washington, after having already lost their other two money makers. The only way I can see that happening is if all the remaining members stay put and they add some teams from the Mountain West like San Diego State, Boise State, and Fresno State.

Or it forces Nebraska to make the right moves to insure they are in the conversation each year. One great thing Nebraska did was bring in Trev Alberts to clean up the mess that others have created. Nebraska still has national appeal and Trev Alberts understands this and will not stand pat and watch this program slip much further into mediocrity.Well that depends on what you care more about. Exactly, the program can either wallow in woe is me, they are adding two more good teams, or man up and win the tough games.Or it forces Nebraska to make the right moves to insure they are in the conversation each year. No doubt. But unfortunately, be it Frost's coaching staff, the type of players we get, lack of leadership in the locker room, something in Lincoln's water supply, or whatever, the teams the last 4 years run hot and cold, come out flat for the start of the game, often sleep through the 3rd Q and just can't seem to put their foot on throats when they have the upper hand. Like you say, maybe the new coaches and ton of new players can change that.Nebraska has to start beating some teams bad so we can give all the players behind the starters experience it's what builds a program top to bottom something that's been missing for years.
Backpack or hobo sackOnly if PAC and B12 merge. If not, PAC is likely losing at least Oregon and Washington, after having already lost their other two money makers.
B12 is on much more favorable of a position right now than that conference. Might as well combine to compete as a third "superconference". The BIGPAC if you will... Lol
Echoes of Steve Pederson.Or it forces Nebraska to make the right moves to insure they are in the conversation each year. The PAC will only be saved IF the remaining teams merge with the Big 12 and the PAC name somehow survives in the merger. The only way I can see that happening is if all the remaining members stay put and they add some teams from the Mountain West like San Diego State, Boise State, and Fresno State.
So you believe Trev Alberts is just like Pederson? I know I'm not the AD at Nebraska so I have not say in the matter, I believe Trev Alberts is genuine. If you believe Trev Alberts will just stand by and let a school like Nebraska slip beneath the waves you are mistaken, because he won't.Echoes of Steve Pederson.
I think he was referring to the slipping to mediocrity. Pedersen famously said he fired Solich because he would not let Nebraska gravitate toward mediocrity. So you believe Trev Alberts is just like Pederson? I'm convinced that there are those that believe Nebraska football is lost forever and you can count me as one that doesn't. Nebraska will be a school that produces a good product in the future as to when I feel it will be sooner rather than later. If people don't care about Nebraska football why are they on sites like this every day of the week.
Correct. Thanks.I think he was referring to the slipping to mediocrity. Pedersen famously said he fired Solich because he would not let Nebraska gravitate toward mediocrity.
If you consider Solich to be mediocre, what do you consider the condition of Nebraska football to be now?I think he was referring to the slipping to mediocrity. Pedersen famously said he fired Solich because he would not let Nebraska gravitate toward mediocrity.
Me thinks you need to carefully read the thread in it’s entirety. Then get back to me. Good dayIf you consider Solich to be mediocre, what do you consider the condition of Nebraska football to be now?
And that's why I said Trev Alberts won't allow Nebraska to slip into mediocrity. Maybe past AD's allowed it to happen but I doubt Trev Alberts will stand around and just hope, he will take action.I think he was referring to the slipping to mediocrity. I just took his comment as tongue in cheek because of the similarities in what you wrote and what Pederson said. And that's why I said Trev Alberts won't allow Nebraska to slip into mediocrity. Yeah I should probably have probably looked at it that way, but I guess I tire of brining up the past and what's water under the bridge. I believe we have an AD who bleeds Nebraska RED and will do his all to see it returned to where it belongs and where fans demand it to be. I don't need Nebraska to be the next Alabama I just want them to be relevant in the BIG and on occasion play for a Championship. Sorry for my rant, didn't mean or want it to come out that way.I just took his comment as tongue in cheek because of the similarities in what you wrote and what Pederson said.
its cool, I don't hold grudges unless you are an Iowa fan that reported me and got me suspended.. ha ha haYeah I should probably have probably looked at it that way, but I guess I tire of brining up the past and what's water under the bridge.
