Keli has to pull the plug on this shtshow
Football is fools goldI think they're going to, but they really shouldn't.
The thing that I have a tough time with is football does have pieces to work with for next season. More rev share % for that program allows for more of an impact on the field.
If we've already determined the bball program is dead, and almost everyone knows it, how are we not giving football a bigger piece of the pie for next season? Seems really dumb to give bball 4 million (?) in rev share when you could just funnel that money to football for 2 elite defensive lineman.
4 million saving doesnt matterI think they're going to, but they really shouldn't.

It's not savings, it's the allocation of funds.4 million saving doesnt matter
The reality is, we do have offensive pieces that are high level.Football is fools gold
Yes when you have watched this team for 50 years and you sit there and watch game after game of a team that goes 40 minutes without running a single offensive set substitutions/rotations that are mind blowing and tonight the icing on the cake outrebounded by freaking PENN by 13 we are going to get annihilated in the BIGIs this going to be after every game RICH the dentist?
What a wr or two. Without a line they’re not enough to win games. You’ll blow the stack on keeping them but gone is the qb that threw to them and the line isn’t big ten caliber. Fools gold. The reality is, we do have offensive pieces that are high level.
I'd rather have that rev share put towards football for next season.
He does it on the women's bball board too, after every win and every loss. Soccer too. Makes me laugh every game, its like a treasure hunt, lets find the thread where Rich says to fire a coach! Is this going to be after every game RICH the dentist?
This is so dumb and not how you run a department or attract a top candidate. I get it, you’re probably a casual hoops fan, but you can’t just take all the money away. Football hasn’t done anything of note in 20 years, take the money from them-see how silly that sounds. Imagine the word that would get around? You give a coach resources to succeed and then if they don’t, then you have to move on.I think they're going to, but they really shouldn't.

Agree with you on the Rucker Park analogy. These guys (mostly) play rec league bb. No discipline, dribble drive shoot and miss, poor shooting overall, lack of rebounding.I personally believe we could go to Rucker Park, find eight guys who have never been to college, and give them scholarships and 25k each and we'd be better than the team we currently have (btw, this is basically what the Univ of Houston does), but ...
There is no money for a new coach. I wish there is, but there isn't. So stop asking for a new coach hire because you're only going to be disappointed. We can't afford one and we can't afford one for a very long time into the future. It is not going to happen.
Blow the stack on them? Collectively what are they worth? 2.5 million? Still plenty of money leftover for other position groups. Our RB is pretty special as well. What a wr or two. Without a line they’re not enough to win games. You’ll blow the stack on keeping them but gone is the qb that threw to them and the line isn’t big ten caliber. Fools gold.
Do you know what linemen cost?Blow the stack on them? Collectively what are they worth? 2.5 million? Still plenty of money leftover for other position groups. Our RB is pretty special as well.
Thanks for proving my point, having a high level offensive line sure would be nice to pair with those 3 NFL caliber players. Almost like you could achieve that by allocating the funds differently.
First, I grew up on R Hoops, I would hardly consider myself a casual fan. This is so dumb and not how you run a department or attract a top candidate. I totally disagree with your sentiment. A) I don’t think you starve a coach. It’s a bad look. B) if you give the 3-4 mil to the other guy do you think you’re ever getting it back?First, I grew up on R Hoops, I would hardly consider myself a casual fan.
Second, this is big business, and it's time to stop pretending it's not. Mind you, I also posted a couple weeks ago that I would be okay with Hoops pulling additional funds from football IF they committed to an actual well known winning HC.
I just acknowledge that in it's current form, you're better off taking the allocated rev share and putting it towards something that you believe has a pulse at minimum.
I do not think putting 3.5-4 million into this program next season is a smart decision. That money could be used to build a very strong OL or DL which would have a far bigger impact on Rutgers than anything happening in hoops right now.
Unless you're telling me we're moving on from an assistant coach and bringing in a real offensive game plan, and we're moving on from the 5-7 player freshman classes and landing bigger, older portal players who fit the specific system.
Anywhere from 250K to 1.5M.Do you know what linemen cost?
We'll have to agree to disagree then. Your next coach isn't going to care what you did with NIL and the last guy, he just wants to know what you're going to DO with NIL for him and the position he will be in.I totally disagree with your sentiment. A) I don’t think you starve a coach. It’s a bad look. B) if you give the 3-4 mil to the other guy do you think you’re ever getting it back?
The Athletic Department isn’t going to deprive Basketball of needed funds. Football already gets the bulk of revshare. Any additional needed will have to be donated by fans. We'll have to agree to disagree then. It's not the coach's money. It's the athletic department's money, they will decide how it's spent.
Not asking just know Pike is not coaching here next year. We have begun the HC search.I personally believe we could go to Rucker Park, find eight guys who have never been to college, and give them scholarships and 25k each and we'd be better than the team we currently have (btw, this is basically what the Univ of Houston does), but ...

You know this how?Not asking just know Pike is not coaching here next year. We have begun the HC search.
Especially womens soccer.....Dentist whines incessantly about 18-22 year old women. Quite hystericalHe does it on the women's bball board too, after every win and every loss. Soccer too. Makes me laugh every game, its like a treasure hunt, lets find the thread where Rich says to fire a coach!
And Rucker guys would be better shooters and be more disciplined LOL ? Less ISO? Is there an anti Rucker we don’t know about ?Agree with you on the Rucker Park analogy. These guys (mostly) play rec league bb. No discipline, dribble drive shoot and miss, poor shooting overall, lack of rebounding.
he's full of itYou know this how?
To be clear, I'm not arguing what I think they will do, I'm arguing what I believe they should do.The Athletic Department isn’t going to deprive Basketball of needed funds. Football already gets the bulk of revshare. Any additional needed will have to be donated by fans.
Have you begun the HC salary search? Because that's what matters. Not asking just know Pike is not coaching here next year. We have begun the HC search.
They'd be more athletic and play much better 1v1 defense. Better rebounders. They'd run up and down the court on offense. They'd just be better. And Rucker guys would be better shooters and be more disciplined LOL ? Less ISO? Is there an anti Rucker we don’t know about ?
I believe we now have a competent Athletic Department. There will be 2500-4000 fans in the seats by mid January. Coming off the biggest failure in college basketball last year. You know this how?

It would be the best thing for men's basketball, but not the athletic department unless Pike agrees to a settlement well below the contract value.I believe we now have a competent Athletic Department. By Mid - End of January the rumors will start on line and in print. Early-Mid February the names will be leaked. Gain interest in behind the scenes dialogue.
I agree the buyout is also money we don’t have to spend but not really anyone wants to invest in Pike, it’s like burning money.Think you need staff changes, but I’d rather spend money on NIL than pay Pike 20 million not to coach and hire a coach who will have the same talent issues because he has no money.
Exactly. In the corporate world, Pike would have been bought out long ago. 3.5 million per year for this shiit product is absurd. To be clear, I'm not arguing what I think they will do, I'm arguing what I believe they should do.
Again, if 90% of the fan base and people surrounding Rutgers believe he's a dead man walking and him being here next season is solely because we don't want to pay his buyout, then what are we doing?
We have 20.5 million to spend on athletes next season. Are we really giving a percentage of that away for the sake of being "fair." Would be a foolish decision IMO. At minimum give football an extra million and go buy a difference maker for next season.
Too many people are worried about being "nice." This isn't personal, it's business.
In the corporate world, Pike would have had the resources to retain Cliff, Mag, and Spencer. But this is Rutgers where people have unrealistic expectations of success, without providing the requisite support. That won’t fly any more. People have to pony up, or be content with mediocre seasons or worse.Exactly. In the corporate world, Pike would have been bought out long ago. 3.5 million per year for this shiit product is absurd.
