He didn't leave to go to UConn. He left for the bag that he wasn't getting from us. He was about to take Georgetown's bag, until UConn swooped in.

If we had offered him a similar bag, he likely never would have looked elsewhere.
I'm not sure we needed a bad to fit our offer, more like a letter sized envelope that didn't open wide.

On June 8, 2023, I wrote on TKR, "Cam will go to the NBA by way of UConn." This is the best take ever posted TKR and maybe in the history of On3 and Rivals.

This Nostradamus-like post was made more than a year before Cam was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies and 17 months before Cam made his NBA debut with the team.

The next post: "He won’t be anywhere near the draft. You are entitled to your strange opinions though."

The post after that: "3 pages on Cam Spencer, who is, at best, an average B1G guard."

Three posts later: "Griffiths, Simpson and Fernandes are better overall players than Cam."

Later that day: "Cam to the NBA? Lol please rename yourself to Fat Dodo."

This picture seems like a thousand years ago now. It was just Feb 1, 2023. Reaction to walk on Terry Aiden hitting 3 pointer as we crush Minnesota 90-55. Just look at those guys. We were on a roll and it seemed destined for a deep run in the big dance. Then Mawot Mag tears his ACL the next game against Mich State and the season goes to hell, players transfer, and we haven't been the same since. Sigh!

That was going to be pikes best team im certain of it idk why the Mag injury set things off the rails so bad but in truth it was the first warning sign of Pike not having an clue how to adapt on the fly or adjust

Love Spencer's game. I always laugh thinking about NJHawk writing out some 8 paragraph analysis indicating that his transfer to UCONN wasn't a big deal and that Austin Williams was a better fit for the system.
Those posts were some of the worst analysis I've ever seen.

even with the mag injury what really broke me that season and kept us out of the dance was the ******* road game at Minnesota when we were up by 10 points with one minute to play and lost. still no idea why Hyatt passed it backwards

Unbelievable how the dominoes have fallen since this picture. I think that team was destined to fall back slightly, no matter the circumstances, but no one could have predicted:
1. Mag injury
2. Baye decommitment
3. Spencer and Mulcahy abrupt transfers.
4. Griffiths bust
5. Whatever last season was
6. Whatever this season is

Good post

Plus lack of Cliff’s development and then transfer

Failure of just about every other recruit and transfer

Well said. Our luck has been horrible since feb 2023. Throw in a flu and rolled ankle for the 2nd best player in college ball…

The most disappointing thing about last season is that besides Purdue, a lot of single digit losses that might have gone the other way with a healthy Dylan - and definitely would have gone the other way with Big Cliff.

I don’t think Cliffs lack of touch was on Pike. Love Cliff, amazing person and athlete, but he had stone hands and lacked touch around the rim.
