Sort of like nearly every other portal guy. Portal guys transfer because they aren't playing where they are. It isn't like we have had much success with the guys we have brought in from other P5 programs.
I remember Cam and CJ Smith both leaving after their first year. Maybe they hated UNL or had overinflated egos. Regardless, I think they both stunned their growth leaving when they did.
On another note, those two guys left us with holes at Safety depth the past few years. I wish we had taken advantage of the portal and replaced them as soon as they transferred out.
They were both rated high but raw talent isn't enough. You have to max out your skills or you'll get left behind. I'm sure hitting the portal for lower tiered schools right away didn't help either of them.
I wonder how these guys could have done had they stuck it out with Coach Fish.
Most kids transferring from a P5 school are doing it because they have to downgrade to get playing time. Even if you’re a stud playing at a lower tier P5 school you aren’t likely to transfer up because you’re already facing good competition and therefore are developing.
Whereas an FCS player like Toure would want to transfer up to face better competition and develop his draft stock.

I could have brought up Avery Roberts to refute his post but since he wrote vast majority, it would have been stupid to bring up one guy when most have done squat. Sort of like you bringing up one success.

Then Henry Gray, Jaiden Francois, and Ronald Delancy left us with holes again.

That has nothing to do with the point I made. I was just saying most transfers from P5 schools transfer down a level because they weren’t cutting it at their first school.
Let’s not kid ourselves. SMU is not a step up. If we played in that conference we’d be dominant. Sometimes we get a little nuts with how angry we are.
