What is the deal with all the injuries the last few years? Has it always been this bad or am I just noticing because of how hard it hit us the last few years?

Wish him the best. I don't want to see any kid get hurt. Even a ky kid!!

If he's out for the season, he should be able to apply for a 6th year - which means he should still have two years remaining. But my guess is, Cam doesn't want to be a 24-year old playing college ball when he has the potential to play in the NBA.

Jalan West, from Northwestern State, was recently awarded a 7th year of eligibility. I didn't even know that was possible, but apparently it's happened a few times.

Mormon missions are 2 years, aren't they? Throw in a medical redshirt and there you are. Still... has to be very rare.

How is he eligible to play right away but still have 2 years of eligibility left?

The clock stops for LDS Missionaries; they're not enrolled as students for two years. Generally speaking, you have a 5-year clock to get in 4 years of eligibility.

Cam had a medical redshirt his first year; played two years at Pitt and then graduated. When you graduate, you are immediately eligible to play anywhere as long as you haven't exhausted your four years of play. He played two years at Pitt and he still has two years remaining. Jordan Chatman graduated from BYU in 2016, after his redshirt freshmen season. He was immediately eligible, and he'll play 3 years for Boston College... Brandon Alston graduated from Lehigh after his redshirt sophomore season; so we'll see him at Georgia Tech the next two seasons. Here's a google doc of some 6th year players:

Sucks for them. Kinda ironic it's the guy they pressed Pitt to release though. Hope for a quick recovery

Don’t know how long he will be out for. Some say he’s out for the year others say he can be back by February. There will be more info after he gets surgery.

Either way it’s a blow and it really sucks for Cam. Thankfully, SF is the one position we have some depth in. Also, I hope bagley is okay on your end.

Tough break for Johnson. I expected him to really fit in nicely for the Heels this season. But as CB34 alluded to, it’s the one area where the Heels have depth. My guess is this increases the minutes for Felton quite a bit.

That’s the only silver lining with this injury. Jalek is pretty damn good and we need to see more of him on the court not less.

I sincerely wish the kid well. Let’s remember the ABSURD amount of injury drama that Duke endured last year. Once Jefferson got hurt in January after all the other kids came back I was starting to think I was just stuck in some horrible time warp where bad things just kept repeating themselves.

Sorry but I just can't do the phony ***, "Hate to see any kid get hurt, even if they play for UNC", thing. Those A holes didn't care about Giles or anyone else, so neither do I give a **** about theirs. Injuries happen, screw them.

They’re not supposed to care, they’re just not supposed to cheer. I can settle for indifferent within the prism of a rivalry.

But that's one thing that makes us different from unCHEAT fans Kellen. We don't want to see kids get hurt even if it is the tar heel players. Many of their fans admit they want Duke players to get hurt. They are so bitter and angry to the point they delight in seeing bad things happen. Remember how they react to Coach K and his health problems in the past. I know this is extreme but it's going to be interesting to see what their thoughts are if Coach k should pass. We are better than that. There are a few heel fans that aren't like that cb34 is one of them. OFC

He'll be back in 4-6 weeks barring any set backs. They just cleaned things up from what I've read.

This isn’t the Notre Dame Board

Look I like KP, and he follows your board pretty closely. I am not going to give him a sermon on whats wrong and right. I wish Johnson well, yet I know KP sees the cynicism daily at THR, and thats merely reflected in his comments. OFC

Sorry to hear that for the player. I never like it when players in any sport go down even if it helps 'my team.' Well, maybe a bruise that puts them out one game ;).

But, really, hope he is able to make a strong comeback and play again.
