Bob is a great guy,a really good commentator and was an excellent athlete. Not only basketball, but football as well. Timing is everything in life and he entered the A-10 at the same time as Calipari who was the no.1 recruiting rivals of Rutgers for many kids like Lou Roe and Harper Williams and despite coaching in the most preposterous facility on earth with birds flying around, ate Rutgers for lunch in recruiting. Not only him,but his staff.Bob brought in Tommy Abatamarco at the tail end,but the dye was already caste in the northeast recruiting corridor and Rutgers simply wasn't a player. Not pulling the trigger on Tyson Wheeler, who is a friend of mine and really wanted to play at Rutgers was unfortunate.Suffice it to say that from 88-91 he did more with less and left us with fond memories. Amazingly.Tommy is still recruiting at Iona with his buddy Rick.

You didn't think Curry Hicks Cage was a legitimate college venue? I was there for an RU game in either 83 or 84 while l working in NH because I guy I worked with was a good friend of John Hempele (sp) who played for UMass. This was pre Calipari and I think RU won a close one. The gym was Barn like although it did have seats on all four sides.
