We’re set up splendidly for this upcoming season and next, all the while Duke continues to take hit after hit while trying to beat us at our own game. What’s not to be excited about?

The tides have seriously turned in Kentucky’s favor over the last 6 months.

Cal barely gives the UK haters any room to breathe and I LOVE IT. I have friends, and I'm sure others do that are fans of teams from all around the country and they BADLY want to relish in us sucking...it aint happening ever again while Cal's here.

A little help here...What EXACTLY are players and coaches permitted to do on June 27 that constitutes a practice?

I thought practices supervised by coaches were banned until October 12-15 or so. Or did the NCAA change that?

Cal said the other day on a broadcast that they can start coaching the player 4 hours a week.
Not sure when that rule changed.

Because of the trip to the Bahamas in August the NCAA allows them to practice prior to that trip.

I thought right now it's limited to X amount of hours per week right now, but could be completely wrong.
It is. D-1 bb players enrolled in summer school get four hours a week of ‘skill related instruction’ and four hours of conditioning, training per week during the summer now. NCAA was smart starting to allow this a few years ago.

In Basketball:

  • Student-athletes enrolled in summer school, or who meet certain academic requirements, may engage in required weight training, conditioning, and skill instruction for up to 8 weeks during the summer vacation period. Student-athletes who do not meet the academic requirements may participate in required weight training, conditioning, and skill instruction ONLY during the period of the summer term in which they are enrolled. These weeks do not have to be consecutive, and activity during this period is limited to a maximum of 8 hours per week with no more than 4 hours per week spent on skill instruction. Countable coaches may be present for all required weight training, conditioning, and/or skill instruction.

I’m usually looking forward to football season at this time of year, but for some reason, I have quite an erection for CBB to get started.

I just cannot bring myself to like this post...Whew...

Cal knows what kind of roster he has. Which just happens to be the kind of roster he has wanted for years. He never talks like this. This roster has recharged his batteries.

I think you're right.

PJ figured it out late. We haven't gotten guys with his kiind of production back.

We rarely get point guards that played back. While Quade played a lot of SG last year when SGA was on the floor--he still had his moments of running the offense. He won't have to learn to play college ball for the first time. That's a really good floor to have for point guard play. If Hagans or Quickley play so good that they start at PG over Quade--great. Theyr'e going to have to be really really good to do so.

And then Reid Travis. He'll be in the conversation for All-American honors. We don't get upperclassmen, and when we do, they're not all American level players. WCS is I think the one exception.
