Shelby offense moved and played well tonight, penalties for that side were terrible, we ended up 12- 112 yrds..
Little mistakes hurt us there...But we had 455 yrds offense.
Now our D has played well this year, but tonight we looked terrible.
Nothing was said but 2Defense players were kicked off team thur. One was best D lineman..you could tell the reshape of the D showed.
I loved we didnt give up, this was another classic.. was a hard fought game...
We need to work on penalties..
Good luck to Burns rest of way

Defense might have looked terrible tonight but you can credit the other team sometimes.

Max was also just coming back from battling turf toe and Munger was out with strep. Nate Wilson stepped in and did great on O line. Our offensive line held their own but that must have been all because Shelby kicked a player out. Had nothing to do with Burns playing well. 😂

I want to beat them too. I thought we played well enough to win tonight. Kicker is a sophomore and has the leg but kicked it too low. The bad snap pulled us back. The players were put in a position to win. The big thing is we return dang near this entire team next year with a ton of talent coming up. I think we make a hell of a run in the playoffs.
Hey- I’m an old dog. I’ve seen it all. Yes it’s discouraging. I totally get it! I could tell you the whole history of Burns High Football. Things have changed drastically. We are making progress- the Saints will be marching in the future!! I love beating Shelby- I remember a few years ago we beat them so bad at the half their fans cleared the stadium like roaches scatter when a dark room is lit by a light bulb. I remember the Crest/ Shelby game where Crest was going to kick a field goal to win and the play clock ticked away, ending the game before they even got to attempt the kick. We have beat them 3 years in a row twice in the past and then 4 years in a row. We creamed them about 8 years ago when we were not even that good. We beat em the night they named their field- Pearly Allen field, completed a pass- right at the end of the game. I remember the 1st time we ever beat em- in 1975. I remember beating them in double overtime. It hurts but “What a Great Game”- we didn’t lose- they just out scored us by one stinking point.

Great and exciting game. With the offense Burns was running it was really hard to stop. 1 and 18 are great athletes and I thought Dixon also played well. As for Shelby I thought Farmer had one of the best games I have ever seen by a QB, Bottom line for Shelby as we go into the playoffs If we don't cut down down on the stupid penalties we want go far. Good luck to the Bulldogs in the playoffs.

Having Davis not playing defense and not 100% really hurt Burns. Looks to be there best runner and best overall player not in the game changed but other players stepped up. Burns will be a handful in the playoffs.

Burns got bumped to the 9 seed because Anson won tonight to sneak into the 24 seed in the East. That knocked West Stanley out of the playoffs and moved Central Davidson West.

Now it could change if anybody opts out
Update it changed overnight. First Flight fell out the East bracket, making Central Davidson move back East. In turn Burns moves back into the 8 spot and a bye. Will face the winner of West Stanly/Lexington at Burns in 2 weeks. Then most likely a trip to Brevard

I take back what I said. Use the bye to get everyone healthy. Not having Davis full strength hurt but man I’m proud of the effort. So many kids stepped up last night. Burns proved last night they are not a one man show and Dixon played his tail off. Wells and Ussery are ballers!! It’s CC vs everybody now.

I think both offenses did a great job with their game plans last night. Neither defense played well. For either team to go far in the playoffs they need to get defense tighten up. Neither team deserved to lose last night. Good luck to Burns the rest of the way and am glad we wont meet again this year.

My final thoughts on this game are that Burns came to play. Maybe Shelby didn't play their best, but Burns came to play and prove a lot of people wrong. And even though we came up 1 point short, I think Burns showed a lot of people something last night. That was one of the best CC games I've watched.

I know we still have football to play this year and I feel good about Burns being able to get a home playoff win and even going on the road in round 3 and knocking off a higher seed maybe even 2 upsets at higher seeds. But I'm telling you right now, Burns is going to be GOOD next year. Really good. This whole team is coming back basically. And having Wells and his speed in the backfield to go with Max will be so hard to stop.

And if Ryan Sisk happens to see this, kid keep your head up, we're gonna need you. He makes that kick 9 out of 10 times.

If Crest, Shelby or KM had been inside the 10 with a minute to go and down only one point, they are winning that game. Bet on it. But nope. Not us. Of course Burns choked. Its just what we do.
Crest didn’t score on Ashbrook with a foot to go. It happens. And tonight KM evaporated. What’s with that?

Ryan Sisk- games are won or lost by a 100 little details. You keep your head held high. That last detail ain’t all on you- it really shouldn’t have come down to a kick to begin with. You’re my hero.

The offsides penalty that gave Shelby the opportunity to go for 2 instead of kick the XP. The dropped TD pass on Burns 1st drive. The half a yard short on Burns 2pt attempt. Giving up a TD on 4th and 14 with 2 mins left. All that combined to give Shelby that extra point, not the missed FG. So you're exactly right.

I love the Dogs- wish them much success the rest of the way and on to better things next
Year but- we have made way too many mistakes all year long (penalties) at crucial times. We gotta play cleaner, more consistant ball. We hurt ourselves too much. Go Dogs!

Both teams shot themselves in the foot several times each and bull crap penalties hurt both teams. I don't know about Burns this year, but the refs the last 4 or 5 weeks have been plum awful. Calling stuff on Shelby and turn right around and let the other team do the same exact thing and turn a blind eye to it. On a positive note the Shelby OC finally put a game plan together and stuck with it that suits this team best. Shorter passing routes which kept the QB from running for his life and getting sacked multiple times. Having our best D lineman kicked off the team hurt a very thin D line a bunch, he was a stud. However if you break the rules there are consequences and I fully support Wilbanks 100% in doing so, some other players are just going to have to step up. Good luck to both Shelby and Burns in the playoffs and always remember Crest Sucks!!! I think both fan bases can agree on that.

Yes- hard to understand some calls all year long for Burns as well. They aren’t going to catch
Everything on the field, and I think they are trying to keep the games safe as possible and perhaps over do it at times. All these little details matter but humans are imperfect. Still- would not want that job. We support Divine all the way, he pulled out all the offensive muster for the game. Good luck the rest of the way!

He really does have a real job, if you count licking the cheese dust off his fingers after eating a bag or 3 of Cheetos.

Also, wish we could get our mouthy players to shut up during games and stop getting unsportsmanlike penalties every other play. Maybe the coach should invest in some 200 mph Nascar duct tape to help solve the problem. Cause our players are smart enough to stay quiet during a game and we obviously have a target on our backs from the refs. Last week was the best behaved they have been in a while. You don't get to run your mouth when you're beating the teams we've beat up till last week.

Trash talk and celebrations have got out of hand. I know im an old fogey but we dont need to see your seat belt celebration when the guy that burnt you drops a pass.

I dont remember any body NOT being mouthy ever. In the past there was some tact, like they said it usually before the play without any head movement or indication they were trash talking. It was more inconpsicuous.

These days it's more obvious because ya'll taught your kids to telegraph everything and post it on the phone.
Yes it's you parents fault.
