Bulletproofing a 6.0 Powerstroke

Does anyone know anyone or anyone done it themselves, that has bulletproofed a 6.0 Powerstroke? Looking for reviews on reliability after the project is done and if it’s worth the money. Might have the option to do it but need to know if it’s worth it.

Long story short, my 04 6.0 is toast and getting it bulletproofed is the only option if I ever want it to run normal again.

Thank you for serious, rational comments

Here's what I know from a Ford mechanic. IF it's done right, it'll be a good engine. Let's face it, probably your only option because it'll probably be your cheapest option. Your truck is probably worth zero right now. How much do you like your truck? If you do then I would recommend getting engine fixed. But plan on driving it for a long time to make up for what you're going to spend on it. Some guys won't touch a 6.0 no matter what. Guys I've talked to are happy with them post bulletproofing. Good luck

I’ll be honest in saying I love my truck and would have had it bulletproofed and check signed within 48 hours to get it fixed had I not been married....the wife isn’t exactly thrilled with the repair bill as I’m sure any married guy can understand. Perfectly willing to keep the truck until it completely falls apart due to age, not common mechanical failure. Two shops I’ve contacted already. C &C in Bennington, NE and Husker Diesel in Gretna, NE. Both have quoted the same price.

You should never use bulletproof and 6.0L in the same sentence. I have or had at one time 15 vehicles with this motor in my business (i know, what an idiot) and it is a money pit. Junk it and start over.

Here’s the catch that I left out....due to my past with theft and trust issues I’m not gonna get into too much depth but let’s just say I did technically already trade the 6.0 into a dealer for a 5.9 Cummins....problem is the dealer I traded it into still hasn’t come to tow the 6.0, and my 5.9 is about to go onto a different tow truck and into the same dealer for the third time in 3 weeks due to an intermittent issue with the fact the 5.9 simply won’t crank/start sometimes. It actually hasn’t even cranked or started in 48 hours now even though the major dodge dealer has told me twice now that there isn’t anything technically wrong with it because all tests come back clean. My day job is in trucking so I’m driving the farm truck right now, luckily, to and from work.

Sooooo getting frustrated enough to where I’m about ready figure out how to walk away from my trade, give the Cummins back, take the 6.0 back and figure out what my next step is.....which brings me to the bulletproof topic

You would have to haul it a bit but you can check prices with Elite Diesel in Bloomfield Ne. He does good work.

The 5.9 is a great motor....i think that a guy could find one in salvage for a grand or so and take a chance. or a rebuilt one at Vanderhaags.

Next thought is a bad starter or solenoid. Dealer's last chance to get it right or I'll probably dump it. Can't have unreliable trucks. Day 3 now with no crank or start. All electric works fine.

Would take your wife's help or a buddy. Can you get to the starter with a test light and have someone turn the key. If no juice then there should be a relay or possibly a fuse.
