IMHO, he will end up being a solid big. He moves pretty well for someone that big and he just needs time. He's a true freshman so I don't expect him to be great out of the gate, but we certainly need help inside. He’s a project. It’s going to take time for him
I'm sure Izzo was as concerned showing Oakland a lesson that he deemed necessary to welcome Ben to the league.Oakland 70

He is, but he's a good passer. They can run the offense through him at the high post. He’s a project. It’s going to take time for him
Basically it was what UConn did to Jans group...Iowa outscored the Bison by 37 on points off turnovers.
That'll win ya a couple of games.
All it takes is $$$! Lots of $$$. Maybe 9k folks attended yesterday and tix were $30-90 a pop…(beers were only $14/ beer. )Didn't I read looking at the schedule that they will play this one in Des Moines? That could have possibly changed. I would like to see a matchup in Des Moines against a higher level opponent in coming seasons to reinforce our fan base around the Des Moines metro.
Thanks for the report. It just blows my mind what attending these games costs now. With revenue sharing coming that will make the revenue side even more challenging. I trust Beth to figure out how to make the annual Des Moines game more appealing. All it takes is $$$! Lots of $$$. To get a more major opponent in will take more “bait” to get them to DSM....Bucknell has a player who played ball at Valley/WDM a couple of years ago.
I think the playing a game in DSM annually is a good idea but it ain’t cheap!
The arena charges what they charge. U of I sports is not some damn non-profit charity. It’s a nice facility. DSM is lucky to have it and needs to support it. The folks in charge are pretty aggressive in persuing events and bringing a variety of talent to the arena. It all costs money. There are some things you just cannot cut costs and persevere.Yes it’s in Des Moines. Lots of tickets available which is understandable given the opponent. The arena charged too much IMO.
McCollum said earlier this week that this was originally supposed to be SLU but didn’t wanna go against his good friend right away. Also planning to be an annual thing with better competition.
The fact is this stuff costs money! A lot more than it used too. Thanks for the report. It just blows my mind what attending these games costs now. I live as a senior on a small fixed income and see older people all around me who struggle financially. I saved as much as I could in my working years while I watched people I worked with spend every dime they made. I manage ok now but it didn't come easy. Feel really fortunate seeing what people deal with now with everything getting so expensive. The arena charges what they charge. U of I sports is not some damn non-profit charity. Golf balls cost $55-60/ dozen. Putters cost $450! Drivers over $600! Cars cost $30k for little more than basic transportation. Bob Dylan told me 60 years ago, “ the times they are a Changin’!” He was right.
Anybody who thinks spending $450 on a putter is going to make them a better golfer deserves to be struggling. The arena charges what they charge. U of I sports is not some damn non-profit charity. The same for a $600 driver but I don’t set the prices… and obviousky, someone is paying them.Anybody who thinks spending $450 on a putter is going to make them a better golfer deserves to be struggling.
IMO, the offense was a bit of a mess back then when they were forcing virtually every possession through Stirtz and MSU was the 3rd straight sub-par offensive performance. Credit BM for making the necessary adjustments.Oakland 70
