We ran it twice for about 10 yards per. Why not stay with it until they stop it? Also we ran outside pretty well too but not nearly enough. I don’t think anyone would argue that we have better athletes. Get them in space to open up the inside run.

Yep. Whipple’s play calling was atrocious. I did not think he was a good hire and I still don’t.

Jury is still out on Whipple, but this just seems so basic to me - run it until they stop it.

I like Frost's style of offense better than Whip's myself. I mean it gets QB's killed, but the creative running game and deep ball off of it is great between the 20's and would probably be great in the red zone too, with a good OL. I liked the idea of marrying Whip's passing game with Frost's running game, but that is NOT what we saw in the opener.

I admit that I can't get excited about playing the game again and running most plays 7-8 times to see exactly what each player did especially on the OL but my goodness, there was simply no where to run. I read about all these "cut-back" lanes on here and to the outside and all that for going on 5 years now. It must be that we have extremely bad RB's who can't see diddly for a hole. Unlike the little squeaker that NW created against our D.

No way am I standing up for Whip but for crying out loud, if you can't get even a little push off the line you are screwed and we were/are. He used the pass to get them back and even then we couldn't run so now what do you do?

Bad OL is soooo much worse than the play-calling.
Nothing will work consistently until the OL becomes more physical.
Maybe next year?

I don't think we'll see the quarterback running with Thompson in there. He has stated that he prefers not to run.

What I don't get is why pull Logan after 1 play. Let him run some option and see if you can steal some points. I'm not calling for Logan to start but why pull him after 1 successful play.

In an interview when he first came here, he mentioned he was held back from running at Texas and seemed excited to run more wanting people to know he could be more than a pocket passer.

I think we really needed him to scramble for positive yards just a few times and it might have really helped loosen their defense a bit.

Well, Frost was put in timeout, and do yoi think Frost could have made a better hire? I'm not wild about the guy either, but he had a big time qb last year that people gave him credit for, so ...

I think the most frustrating thing about this team is that you don't have to be a football genius to realize this is not working. We can't put it all together. If we have 500 yards of offense despite a terrible offensive line, then the defense is terrible. We finally have a punter and someone who can kick extra points, yet Scott calls the onside kick up 11 points. We can finally pay people to come here legally, and the Edge rushers and linebackers are atrocious. The selection of players who actually play who have shown they can be great are pulled out of the game when we need it most. This is not working out and we need to break up.
