BTW How About Hyatt On Ware?!

When I saw that matchup, I thought the coaching staff was nuts. Putting a 6'5" Hyatt on 7'0" Kel'el Ware. Ballsy. And of course at times it certainly caused us some problems, and Ware ended up with decent numbers and some easy looks. But generally-speaking, I thought Hyatt battled pretty well for position, and whether it was the staff's intentions or not, keeping Cliff mostly off of Ware resulted in Cliff staying out of foul trouble. On paper I would've thought Hyatt (or Mag) would've gotten the assignment of Reneau with Cliff matching up with Ware, but this is why I'm a fan, not a coach, ha.

Good call. I thought Hyatt battled too.

BTW, Indiana is a weird team. I have no idea how they beat OSU. I know they have a couple potential pros on that team but they looked terrible last night.

I was surprised by this too. I guess Pike wanted Cliff on Reneau, who is the better post scorer.

Going into the game, I though it would be Cliff on Ware, and Mag on Reneau, but Mag was on Galloway a lot of the night.

Hyatt is playing well.
He is more consistent this season. In previous years, he could be the best or the worst player on the court. While we want to get minutes for our young guys, the guys with no eligibility left (Hyatt and Williams in particular) have to play in order to win.

I saw that and liked it right away. Having Mag on the perimeter allowed for switches. Hyatt played him well. I don’t remember him scoring while Hyatt was on him. He bodied up well.

He’s having a great year.

Good post. It's almost better when you don't really notice him a lot.

He's doing it in bball. He's been ripping Davis and hyping Simpson non stop

The irony
The irony indeed. Defending Simpson not unlike Carino. Just comparing the love and the hate of two players, if you don’t think that this hasn’t happened with this fan base, then I have a bridge to sell you. Why do you think Carino made that comment? Irony? Some should look in the mirror. Pot say hi to kettle.

I really haven't seen people ripping Hyatt as much this year? Last year he was indisputably bad, especially on defense. This year he's mostly doing better (not always good, but better) on that end and he's not forcing the action as much on offense. He's definitely not at the top of the list of our issues.

In the end I settled on wanting him back because sixth-year college players are almost always an asset.

You can defend Simpson without ripping Davis. You have chosen not to. You're accusing others of exactly what you are doing. The definition of irony

Indiana has talented front and back court players, more so than RU in my opinion. That guard from Jersey who went to Roselle Catholic can stroke it. Wonder if he ever took a look at RU.

Anyways, RU has Indiana’s number and did what it needed to do to get its first league win.

GO RU

Whoa slow down. I know for a fact you kill one player for no good reason but I’m leaving names off.

No two players on this team are alike so I embrace anything anyone does to help us win. Davis and Simpson have a lot of W’s in their futures here.

Unfortunately the irony and truth is that most of this fan base has been bashing Simpson. Again so much that a beat writer had to call out fans.

Second, if you don’t think some of the posts are downright insulting to Simpson, maybe you should?
Simpson has great all around game but goes 2-13. He had a bad game. He shoots too much.

Different player has great all around game but goes 4-12. He had a great game! He doesn’t shoot too much?

Simpson wins Stonehill, carries us in OSU game, makes huge shot to give us lead over Indiana. Playing both scoring guard and point guard. Giving out assists, great D. Kid is only sophomore. Absolutely nothing about his great shot or leadership capabilities. He’s an after thought in many of the comments. He shoots too much.

One player makes a last second buzzer beater for the ages. Gives us a lead we never relinquish and puts a dagger in the heart of Indiana. Other player hits a random three and one prominent highly respected reviewer gives him more credit than Simpson.

Other player plays 21 minutes, 4 turnovers, no assists. But he’s a great leader, team player, improving every game, great team player who passes the ball?

If you guys think these comments are fair or are not insulting to Simpson then I don’t know what to say.

And BTW all my comments were in response to comments about or digs related to Simpson.

JMike does play very good D, seems like a a tough kid and plays very good D.

Many if not most RU fans have given little or no credit to Simpson. If you don’t think this fan base is playing favorites with JMike, especially given all that Simpson is doing… you’re not being honest.

Spare me the sanctimonious comments.
No irony. Sticking up for Simpson who IMHO and Carino, is getting a ridiculous raw deal.

And frankly Simpson is playing his @ss off.
Nothing ironic about it.
