Comcast Corporation and Fox Networks Group announced today that they have reached an agreement for Comcast to continue carrying the Big Ten Network. The companies also reached an agreement for Comcast to continue carrying all of the Big Ten games on FS1.

Under the terms of the agreement, Comcast will continue to offer Big Ten Network to its customers who reside in states with Big Ten universities (Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin). Xfinity customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, and the Northern Virginia/Beltway area will also continue to receive the network given their proximity to Big Ten schools. In addition, in the coming months, customers outside of the Big Ten states will have access to the Big Ten Network as part of Comcast’s Sports and Entertainment Package.

I wonder if the Big 10 had to give up some money per subscriber in order to get the deal done or lose millions in revenue? I can’t imagine the Big 10 had as much leverage in these negotiations as they have in the past...maybe I am wrong?

So when is the deal effective? Just want to make sure BTN is back on before the first game.

cut the cord. stream. im going with youtube tv. $40per.

I never really gave cord cutting much thought until this summer, and probably still would not have given it much thought had Comcast not dropped BTN in my area. Seemed like too much of a hassle, and too much time to set up so the cost saving wasn’t worth it to me. But Comcast cutting out BTN over the summer pushed me to really look into it and I think I’m going to try a free trial of YouTube TV once the season starts. If I like it I’m cutting the cord once my contract with Comcast is up. YouTube TV is $40 and I can add on Stars and Showtime for an additional $20. So $60 a month, plus my annual Prime membership, and my monthly Netflix I’m at less than $100 a month for everything I would need.

you can get thru a chunk if the season with free trials. or at least i did last year.

although...i might bundle with at&t for a couple years - i can get a boatload of cable channels (itll be a bit of a waste - i dont watch a lot of tv), phone, (we like a landline for international), and somewhat crappy internet for a lot less than im paying cox for just phone & internet (somewhat janky internet in my nbrhood) and maybe by then theyll have fiber in my nbrhood and i can upgrade...who knows?! its such a game.

Both sides most likely gave in to some degree, which they needed to do given the reality of what's happening with cable subscriptions. In non-Big Ten states, offering BTN as part of an extra tier is a reasonable compromise. But I'll find another way to watch, rather than pay Comcast for a tier of channels I'll never watch beyond BTN.

I have you tube tv, and centry link internet for 40 dollars per month, lifetime. run it thru a nivida pro shield.
seems to work well, and I don't have to argue with the cable company every month bout my bill.

that's a helluva price for internet what kind of download speed/bandwidth do you get with that?

i guess the nivida pro shield is mostly for gaming(?) so, it must be more than adequate, eh?

i'm getting robbed by cox.

Im not sure what the speed / bandwidth is..it's just called high-speed internet..for 55 a month...and the discount is a loyal customer discount of 15 bucks. so they told me 40 bucks for life. (and they haven't changed it for a year, woot!)

(because not everything cable companies say is written in stone!)

never had lag on my tv...the nivida pro has gaming and some other features.
