Seems like a good get. Since I’m a free-loader on here and can’t read anything on the pay board, anyone have any good info on Rachal they want to share or thoughts on how he will fit into our rotation?
I’ve watched a couple highlight vids on YouTube and he seems like a slasher type with good athleticism.

I would call him a smooth player—not quick but smooth in his moves. Athletic, plays good defense getting his hands on balls and a very good rebounder for 6-6 6-7.
I think he’ll play both the 3 and 4 positions, which are pretty much the same in our offense. I also think he’ll bring an attitude and determination to the team, that we really, really need.
His style of play reminds me of Rashad Smith. Slashing, rebounding, and defending above his size. If he can shoot better from 3 and from the line, he could be quite a bit better than Rashad.

I do wonder what this says about Jones. Competition is always good and we need a back-up 4, but we are 3 deep at the 3 (Lawson, Jones, Rachal)- wonder how that's gonna work.

I’m hoping it means we can bring players off the bench when we have injuries or foul trouble and not have a drop off.
Perhaps the administrative changes Tulsa has made are now paying off. Brandon Rachal is the second 4-Star player committing to Tulsa. His offers coming out of High School included LSU, Texas, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, and Miami of Florida. His offers coming out of JUCO include Tulsa, Pitt, West Virginia, ECU, UAB, and Stephen F. Austin. I also feel that AAC's new ESPN TV contract with all its exposure is a boost to recruiting....but, on the other hand, Tulsa now has to really step it up in a very, very competitive basketball conference. With Isaiah Hill, Keyshawn Embery-Sipson, and Brandon Rachal, this is really marvelous that these young men chose Tulsa.

Tulsa is close enough to his hometown that relatives can come watch him play occasionally.
I assume he, along with Horne and the transfer will be the four types, Korita and Scott will play three, with Jackson playing a 2/3. Joiner, Hill, and the Greek at the one with maybe some Joiner time at the 2.
So Falkoun, Hewitt, and Igbanu as our posts. If E-S is eligible it looks like our guard line up 1-3 is full to the brim. Could really use a rebounding/garbage type scorer for a post. That would give us a good deal of flexibility and depth.
Staff feels really good about our chances with Ugboh. Should know in the next week.
I think Hewitt can be a sub in post player but not sure he can be more than that.
I like Falkoun's attitude, his athleticism. Would have been nice to have him healthy to see how much he could developed over the last season. I think that he and Igbanu will rub off a little on each other. Igbanu is more athletic than he often shows, but his footwork is so good he doesn't have to do it and it isn't natural to him. Playing Falkoun will probably help bring that out. Playing Igbanu will force Falkoun to be extremely disciplined when playing.
Another good big man would definitely benefit the team.

Ugboh would turn a weak position into one of strength and give us an ncaa tourney roster imo. The staff has felt good about players who went elsewhere before. Hope they’re right this time. He would be a very important signee.
Yes....Especially on the defensive end...The novelty of our match-up zone is starting to wear
thin...When we played teams for the second go-around this past season, it seemed they had
less of a problem in breaking down our defense....With Ugboh in the middle, and known
defenders such as Rachal, Jackson, Joiner, and Korita, we could put a good man-to-man
defense on the floor....
Also importantly, with an actual two-deep situation in the post, the team would have good
depth at all positions, allowing for some really tough practice scrimmages....I think we missed
that this past season.....
Alou Kieta would light up Hewitt. He should look into colleges in the greater Shawnee metroplex.
What do you think the chances of us getting Ugboh would be? Seems like schools with higher basketball prestige and more resources have been offering him so how are we going to compete with that? Really the only thing we have going for us is that a lot of Nigerian players end up playing at TU and that Ugboh would get a lot of playtime.

And let’s be honest, Tulsa is a lot more awesome now than when we were college age. And we’re in a great conference. Seems to me that we have a lot going for us, not sure why recruiting hasn’t kept up. Seems there would be good players who don’t want to live somewhere huge like Chicago or Houston but want a nice, fun city of decent size where they can play in a good conference against good competition who’d be all over TU.
I know a guy who can recruit. His name rhymes with Silly Died. That open seat on the bench would be perfect for him.
