Start Brandon Knapper. He will be very good in time. He will only get more comfortable and confident with more reps and games. He’s only a redshirt freshmen and he will have a very good career here. He can shoot and put the ball on floor. By January he and this team will be very good. No worries. Hell we might get Culver back soon.

McCabe will also get better in time this year. He will step up soon. He is still adjusting. Just watch. He will help us. Konate will play center like he should and stop shooting 3s. They will get really good by January. Hell they will get hot in December. Just watch. It’s only freakin November. Nobody will want to play us come March.

There are 6 other teams in the Big XII saying the same thing.

Where WVs is ranked in the conference will be determined by how they start conference play.

The Kansas schools will be good.
Texas and TCU are clearly in the second group ahead of everyone else.

But TCU hasn't looked good so far while Texas beat a very good Arkansas team on a neutral court.

WVU will be at top 2 of Big 12 again in basketball. We will improve more than other teams from now to February. We may win Big 12 in football. We are top 2-3 football programs in Big 12 football even with a bad coach. We may go to Big 12 title if we win a Friday night against Oklahoma. Oklahoma is no guarantee to win. It could or should be a great game.

They could. Bob Huggins is a great coach.
There is a lot of work to be done. Possibly Huggins sees this team as great and he is getting them to reach their potential by motivating them through losing.

But....

At the end of the day there are a lot better guards in the Big XII.
Older and ones with more potential.

So...
I don't think WV will be anywhere close to last year.

I always like how WV played.
Jevon Carter is one of my favorite Big XII players the last few years.

I don't see that same intensity from anyone in the backcourt.
Bolden is good and a streaky shooter.
But..
At the end of the day WV is going to have major issues in the Big XII defensively in the backcourt.

You definitely couldn't say that last year.

Kansas St especially will be tough on WV.
Texas is deep, athletic and talented
Tech has Culver
ISU has Wigginton
Jamie Dixon has TCU as a possible Top 15 team that can straight out ball
Kansas is Kansas with outstanding guard play

I hate to tell you but WV with JC and Dax couldn't win in Austin last year.

That was without Bamba. Texas brought in a transfer who scored 15 points on a NCAA Tournament team and three freshmen that are contributing important minutes.

Not to sound like a homer but Shaka Smart finally has his team in Austin.

There is a good chance they beat UNC on Thanksgiving.
UNC's D especially interior D has not improved.
They can't outrun Texas with better athletes either.

You can’t predict what these teams will look like come January. The long month of December changes, develops many teams. It’s only November. The Mountaineers will be rolling come January. The new guys will develop and the team will start to go upward.
