It can really happen …I have been so hesitant to say it . But the things are lining up for a major run for Rutgers basketball

And that run can start this YEAR….and potential NEXT year when it’s possible that if cliff comes back , our roster remains intact except for caleb time being up

(Predict that Caleb will say at the end , man, I had a great run , but I wish I had one more year to run with these guys )….

And that’s before AB and DW take the court (with, hopefully , DH and TB)

The run started in Sanders’ last year when him and that skinny freshman Geo went on a small BTT run

Yes, the next 5 years may be something none of us are familiar with.

Only losing Caleb next year maybe. Adding an elite shot getter in GG. Simpson should give us that more “traditional” small guard look at times. I’m sure we will lose a reiber or palmqvist to the portal and there will be bumps. Nonetheless, pike has set us up for a run of epic proportions.

Am I allowed to call “pump the brakes” for ‘23-‘24 and beyond?

On this date we are one of the best team in the country. I have almost half a season of data on this team. Any future team has a pretty high bar if this is maintained.

No, sorry.

Or you can, but it needs to be in the "pump the brakes" thread. Pumping brakes has no effect if they are cut.
oh, I thought you meant the rotors we cut. But I guess they don't do that anymore.

I'm very inspired and hopeful but can't go there yet. Do I need to start an ABS thread? (that's Anti-Lock Brake System if Choppin Ohio is reading this).

When is the last time a non-blue blood won everything? And I don’t want to hear Texas Western the day after MLK Day.

Not sure if there is a fully agreed definition of who is a blue blood, but

2021 Baylor
2019 Virginia
2018 Nova
2016 Nova
2013 Louisville

I don't think any of these are normally considered blue bloods.

23 months ago our program was in a great position....thats the point.

I am viewed by most as a debbie downer and even i was very positive
I get it. It shows the irrationally of this board and the inability to see issues they don't want to see.

We were viewed as a 5 seed at the time despite having 3 early season bad losses because both Caleb and Paul were out. We were a Top 10 team until Mag went down.

Yet we have never actually achieved anything despite the self congratulations I read here. And now we are back to the myth that we were Mag away from a national championship again. Nevermind the fact he mutined and quit on the team the next season.

Bumping this was mean haha.

On Jan 16, 2023 we were 5-2 in the Big Ten including a win on the road over the #1 team and one of the losses was complete horseshit. We were top 10 in T-Rank and around there in Kenpom. We had just gotten the Bailey committment.

Being positive, even very positive, then was pretty reasonable IMO. For sure a championship prediction was a little over the top but that was kind of the point; the thread was a response to one that a different poster started with a title along the lines of "pump the brakes" or something like that.

It is kind of amazing how badly things have gone from that point.. though at least it also demonstrates how quickly things can change. Maybe that will be for the better this time around..

Some will claim they always saw this coming even at that high point. Those people will also claim they always knew the 2021-22 team would turn it around though at the time they showed it by predicting we'd go 0 for the Big Ten.

Those people are lying; either to us or to themselves.

They were never that great. Mediocre just felt better than getting kicked in the nuts. The rest was just projected irrationally by this board which has never been substantiated. And then amplified by the masses who shouted down any signs otherwise. Because you know, if only Mag had played that one quarter we would have won the championship!!!!

Since you were able to foresee the great downfall and doom to come way back in 2021, and are obviously so much better than the "masses" and other fans on this board....congrats. Now why bother even watching since you already know what will happen?

We can't talk about what is going on because it doesn't meet your threshold of positivity? Got it and F off

We were like #10 in Kenpom. As far as I am aware he is not a poster here.

I don’t subscribe to the “it was all because of the Mag injury” theory but it doesn’t matter what happened after this point.. as of the date of this thread things were going very well.

The problem for many lies in your definition of very well. To most realistic observers, that equates to mediocrity. That has been Pikes ceiling and that shows no signs of changing

You think #10 is mediocrity? What are you talking about? Yeah dude I would be pretty happy with a top ten team.

A random 10 ranking when you decide it's appropriate to freeze time isn't all that relevant to most of us. LMK when Pike delivers a consistent top 10 ranking in anything. But I do agree he has been mediocre.

I’m not “freezing time” dumbass I’m taking about WHEN THIS THREAD WAS CREATED.
