The only way to change to this mess of NIL is to have the people who actually care about the game boycott and not watch the Final Four. Let the powers at be know that this state of the game is unacceptable. Only a grass roots movement to sink the ratings of the Final Four can do it. Starting here let it spread throughout on3. Hard to get any fan to do this because if we happened to get in the dance this year, every single poster here would be 100% into it, happy, and that first game would have been the biggest thing around here since Willard’s first round flop against TCU in 2022.
I don't like it either but the product on the court and viewership is higher than ever.Its not a sane world.
Despite the current mess, college hoops is still far and away the greatest sport that exists. There’s no chance I’m skipping a final four. I’ve been looking forward to this Michigan Arizona matchup for months.
The only boycott that has ever been successful was the Bud Light Dylan Mulvaney fiasco. Bud Light sales never rebounded.
There is too much gambling and media hype for any boycott to matter. Most casual fans have no idea what NIL or the portal means.

I'm not sure who the powers at be are at this point. Viewership right now is at a high level but I can foresee a downward turn as more & more fans like us get disillusioned & universities that are spending $ they don't have start to address their sustainability in upper tier, D1 athletics.
Why would anyone care about this sport in which maybe only 10-15 universities have a shot at winning? Viewership may be up but for how long? And if you watch the Final Four and this corrupt system then please don’t complain about NIL and the destruction of our basketball program. Be abuse but for a white knight coming to save the day, Seton Hall basketball is dead in terms of being remotely relevant except for being a feeder program.

Because for a lot of the schools, getting to the dance is a W after 4+ months of exciting basketball and games. For others, a Sweet 16 is a win, when you haven’t been there forever. Same with the Elite 8 for certain schools. It’s all relative.
If you are of the mind to boycott the final 4, you might as well boycott the sport entirely. Which I get, because the system sucks. But everyone here would have been happy if we got on the right side of the bubble and that game would have been the biggest thing on here since March 2022.
CBB is turning into CFB. A dozen or so of the same teams will compete for the National Championship each year.
CFP is more rigged. Look at the mass media and P4s crashing out when 2 group of 5 schools got in this past season...gonna be incredibly hard for a non p4, ND excluded to have a true shot moving forward
I think I’ve watched about 60-75 minutes total of MM, and only because my bracket is doing really well. (Have UM beating UConn Monday).

Duke, Kansas, UNC have dominated every era..and the last 35 years UConn has entered as a blue blood what exactly has changed?
I get the idea of a different team every year is terrible and we are so bad at this new system (as opposed to just being regular bad in the old one) but there is some hyperbole here too
This gives UConn a better chance. With him healthy it would be extremely tough. Michigan looks like much better team but UConn has been unbeatable in later rounds of tournaments. It will be interesting.
While I agree with the sentiment..... I've only watched other Big East teams in the tourney. Will watch the final. This NIL model we have is not sustainable... for many reasons. Kudos to the president for calling for a return to normalcy in College sports but now that the ketchup is out of the bottle... will be tough to put it back in.
I would agree that back in the day, with the small field and regional set up, UCLA had an unfair advantage and it limited the shear number of participants. But it wasn’t March Madness then either.
It’s obvious that the P4 schools are running things. Between NIL, immediate transfer and expansion of the field, we will never see another non-P4 school (not named UConn) in the Final 4.
The biggest thing you’re missing is the annual free agency. Non-P4 schools are now relegated to feeder schools.
I agree with the sentiment..... but have watched Big East teams in the post season.... forgot about and missed Crieghton in the Crown.... Will watch UConn in the final.
How many low seeds made it to the Sweet 16 this year? Two. A 9 seed in Iowa and 11th seed in Texas and Texas spent huge money in NIL and is no Cinderella. Zero teams out of the power 4 except St Johns and UConn. The year before was 10 seed Arkansas but no mid-major.
2023 we had Princeton, San Diego St and Florida Atlantic. This is pre NIL. 2022 of course St Peter’s magical run to the elite 8. This will not happen again. Money drives the NCAA tournament. Not progressing every year as a group. The 1989 Seton Hall team could never happen again. Guys who played together for 3-4 years. This is over. The beauty and magic of the tournament is done.

I understand what you’re saying but by and large no one cares..we come off as sour grapes because we are terrible in this new system (we were bad in the previous)
Also Indiana was the worst P4 football team for almost 100 years and in this new system they are dominating..isn’t that the exact opposite of this idea?
Didn’t miss it…I pointed to NIL in my post as one of three reasons why. We were at a disadvantage in the previous system but, on occasion, had very good recruiting classes that the coach could retain and develop. That path no longer exists for mid-majors.

Hmm, I remember a Seton Hall team in the Championship Game. A Butler team in the championship game in back to back years. What about FAU, VCU, George Mason in the Final Four? That’s competing And that will never happen again.
