Gator Bowl is paying $5.35M. How does the winner/loser divvy up this money? Or, is it split?

Does the money funnel back to the Conferences like the Power-5 bowl tie-ins and the Playoff Games?

The bowl payout won’t be the full amount as some things have changed with sponsors since A&M dropped. The new payout has not been announced.

Additionally, the money goes back to the B1G less travel expenses and then divided amongst all 14 conference members.

Hopefully the game is played as this is an extra payout for the conference.

In theory both teams should get the same payout - not a winner/loser payout. Anyhow, the way I see it, suppose it's 4MM per team. For RU, that pot is divvied up 14 ways, it's an extra 285k more per B1G team than if A&M were playing (assuming no B1G bowls get canceled moving forward).

The director of the bowl said the finances will be worked out after the game due to the unique Circumstances. Typically, the school will provide a guarantee to sell a certain amount of seats.

I don't know the answer to the OP's question.

I do, however, know that...

Oh yeah - the guys on the Rant also speculated that whatever the arrangement ends up being, it likely won’t be fair to Rutgers. Take that with a grain of salt of course. They don’t know anything. I guess we’ll see.

Considering the number of other teams that are dropping out / bowls getting canceled, you might think that sponsors for those bowls (or those that paid for advertising) might want to put their money into the the ever-dwindling number of bowls remaining - like the Gator - as there are fewer opportunities for them to market themselves. And, at that point, the Gator would be more flush with cash and could afford the payout structure originally planned. Of course, none of that would really happen.
