It's kind of a novelty to watch a guy with Bol's size run the court. He looks like a great talent in these highlights, but, of course, the competition wasn't very strong.

Was very disappointed we didn't land this kid. Not sure what happened, but I bet it was either him wanting a guaranteed starting spot or wanted to play pg.

I was disappointed as well. The kid is like a coordinated Shagari. I can't remember the details, but I think Bol's recruitment fell apart, because he blamed Cal when he was cut from the under 19 Team USA program.

It's no mystery. I believe it was rather clear that Cal cutting him from the Team USA U19 team is what turned him away from UK.

As I recall, both his mom and he made statements acknowledging how much that upset him, and immediately after that is when we suddenly dropped from the top of his list to a school he no longer had any interest in.

He went to Oregon and they have been implicated by the FBI. Plus Cal stopped recruiting him. Not hard to connect the dots.

Exactly. Just a matter of time.

His mother even said Cal wouldn't give them the same assurances as others. Pretty clear what that means now. His finalists were Arizona usc and Oregon.

All gave certain "assurances" to hopeful recruits

Well, he wanted to bring the ball up the court. Cal said no. He didn’t like it. I’m gonna assume Oregon told him they would do anything he wanted. Well... Bye.

rival recruiters got in his head and convinced him Cal was to blame for him missing the team USA cut.

I think the other part of it was that UK was kind of off and on with bol due to his tendency to float on the perimeter and inconsistent effort.

When he committed to Oregon he was pretty honest that he liked that they didn’t want to change him and were willing to let him play his game.

There is no doubt this kid has the most potential and highest ceiling in this class. Unbeleivable talent that Cal could have easily made the #1 pick this year.

Didn't Romeo Langfords dad say that Cals handling of Langford in the USA camp was the main reason UK wasn't on his final radar?
I dunno, I thought it was because Romeo had hurt his back, but never let on how badly it was hurt. If Calipari and the other assistants for Team USA had known the extent they would have chosen someone else.
