Blades, Watts and Thomas??

I know we need all 3 but Blades is going to sting bad if he doesn't qualify. Top 100 CB and one of the best overall athletes in last years class.
According to Huskeronline.com, Blades, a four-star cornerback from Pasadena, California, is awaiting grades in four classes, and there is a possibility he will need to take an online or summer class before being able to report to NU.
Thomas, a three-star defensive tackle from Mustang, Oklahoma, has graduated, but won't know if he's fully qualified until he gets his final GPA in early June, he said.

Agreed, either will suck to miss out on. Again if i had to choose one, i want Blades. DB is thin already (so i think and hear) but the kids off the charts. Great height, speed and overall athlete. These are the type of kids that will get us back to the titles again.
Although it's unclear whether Blades will be academically eligible to report to campus early next month with many of his Husker classmates — he awaits his final semester grades — he fully expects to join the team at some point soon.

No they don't.
The NCAA clearinghouse clears these players for NCAA eligibility. If a player doesn't qualify, no other schools are getting them qualified. Now if the school has more restrictive admission standards, that is something else.
These kids are just trying to get cleared to play college football.
Its easier to "help" when it comes to extra classes taken in the Spring or Summer. But test scores are impossible to control. This is why I'm skeptical about Watts and his SAT scores. Kids who can't obtain the necessary testing minimums by the end of their Senior seasons usually never reach that requirement.

As stated, there is a national system in place. I have worked to get students through the National Clearing House and there are no shortcuts to having the proper SAT or ACT test scores. There are also requirements for core courses. If a kid does not have the cores completed by his senior year, it is a warning sign in some cases. They can take approved (high school) classes through other services (on-line, etc) and transfer them. One or two classes are a challenge depending on what they are and throw in a ACT test prep class (the most difficult to improve) and the kid gets overwhelmed. Had a kid who did everything to avoid algebra and upper level math. How do you think he did on the ACT without those skills?
So no, there are no shortcuts although it makes people feel better to think other schools are cheating this way.
Sure, in the same manner we could theoretically win the National Championship this year.
