I'm not on Twitter or Tik Tok ... I'm old. I don't see anything on the Rutgers Athletics site marketing this and I don't recall seeing any emails from Rutgers Basketball calling this a blackout game. If it is, it will be half a$$ed. Typical Rutgers.
Thanks for bringing this up; I saw it mentioned one place in regard to the Riot Squad; but looked on other emails (I receive) and didn't see anything mentioned. So wouldn't mind if anyone else has confirmation; unless the message up top is the best we are going to get. What a great job with our promotions

Cannot believe how incompetent a major academic institution can be. One that learns nothing from past failures. I get all my emails days after the events and more of this micky mouse cap. Rudderless program right now.
I like the black outs they look great, but that’s when people are actually aware of them.

I think they just decided this sometime after the Michigan game. Otherwise, why not publicize it on Saturday. It's not going to look too good.

Can't make decisions/announcements without a athletic director.Maybe June when there is a new president and athletic director.
Back when you got actual tickets, those things were printed on the tix, for football anyway.
What do you want we don't have an athletic director and won't have one for a minimum of 6 months so what do you expect from our top notch athletic department
hence the Rudderless comment. but basic communication shouldn't require an AD. A caveman can do it . If not then stop doing.
Was this advertised last game ? It should have been announced at least 4 times.
You think an AD is going to be personally involved in making sure a blackout is promoted? If the employees can't handle that they should all quit.
This isn't about how much alcohol this team will cause me to consume during this game?

They couldn’t even fill their whole section for a 3.30 Saturday afternoon game against Michigan. That’s even with football recruits taking up a 1/4 of it. Very poor showing.

Embarrassing to be honest. A lot of people come straight from work and they send these out the day of? Lol
honestly i think the people running the show actually are not competant and do not think like we do...they think life resides in an immediate tweet or text or tik tok video
People complain about everything. People complaining about this are probably the same people who complain about playing at MSG
Nobody complains about the concept. The place looks good when done properly. Usually RU is all over communicating these.
This one is amateur hour though. And the team isn't even wearing black
I wouldn’t say that calling out incompetence is really complaining.
It’s common sense that if they want fans to wear Black they should be promoting it well in advance of the game and sending out the communications via text / email in advance of gameday.
As others have mentioned a lot of folks head to games from work or other locations (not straight from home).
They’re usually pretty good at promoting these things and for whatever reason there was almost no communication other than today.

Just checked my email and I got my reminder to wear black. Gee I never got the first reminder and usually these things are on the scoreboard before the game and advertised during the game and advertised after the game with the announcement next game is Wednesday verse Illinois wear black
The botched blackout rollout is not a big deal in isolation. However, it points a bigger problem: the indisputable incompetence of this athletic department.
Is this the crew you want running a $100 million RAC renovation? Not that they could raise the money, which actually might be a good thing because if they got the money, they would bungle the project badly.
Schiano doesn't have 10 hours a week to spare but if he did, he would run the athletic department in those 10 hours 10x as well Hobbs and Pisarri.
When the athletic director debate restarts on TKR in a few months, posters will argue whether the new AD needs power 4 experience, requires New Jersey ties, could be a smaller conference AD who is ready to move up.
The most important prerequisite for the job is not any of those. It is possessing obvious common sense for a change. Such as allowing water bottles into the football games, don't have an affair with a coach. I could write a list of hundreds of other common sense decisions the next AD should take and not take.

Getting back to tonight's Illinois game, tickets available for $1 on the ticket resale sites - for a game against a top 25 conference rival. Doesn't appear fans are rushing into the RAC for the black out.
I think Bac's ALL CAPS post pushed the Athletic Department into action. The timing of the text in just uncanny.
