The interest is still there from both sides (RU & Hurley).....at the end of this dance, both essentially make the most sense for the other party involved, despite what is being portrayed or even my own take or thoughts on the process. I personally would like to see a little more swagger from both sides as well (specifically Hurley's side that gives me confidence he's not waffling around), but I think despite past issues, RU has more than presented enough here to get a deal done. I don't think this is a case of not placing the best of what we offer in front of not just Hurley.

I think the only way this ends badly for Hurley and RU is Danny keeping his composure and competitive edge on the right side of the ledger when it comes to game day coaching. At the same time, that's exactly what it takes to lift a program and get some energy and life into what we have seen the last 3 years. We are a B1G program now and that ultimately trumps everything.

I prefer someone that approaches the job like Chris Ash when he said, " this is a job that I run to take", not someone indecisive. Hurley is NOT running to take this job. I think Masielo runs to take the job, Pikiell runs to take the job.

here is the difference..those other guys are not getting offers at this level...Masiello despite all his hype cannot even land an A10 job. Pikiell would I think is going to be our coach if Hurley says no is only going to get an offer from the A10 or MAC and Im not aware of any openings in the A10. I suppose BC might be interested in Pikiell but are they firing their coach. So they have everything to gain and not much to lose

Hurley is a bit more complicated because of what he has coming back and he is well aware more than most how poorly RU has supported hoops

lets get this done and have the press conference on Monday

In the B1G every school hired coaches who took other teams to the NCAA's first except for four: Mich. St and Wisconsin went with long-time assistants, Minn. and Northwestern went with sons of legends.

We should hire like our peers. Lonergan, Dooley, Sendak fit. Masiello fits but the degree . . .

Hurley?

I know it sounds like sour grapes now because would have been happy if he came here but the Hurleys require too much maintenance IMO.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but, I agree to a point. Keep in mind Hobbs went young and hungry with Willard at SH and with Ash for football.

Bac, I'm curious. How do you think Hurley Sr. Is advising Danny? For obvious reasons he has been silent.

Hawk, you are sounding like you are out of the loop with this comment. Hurley and RU appear DOA. I would have liked to see him eagerly accept RU's offer, but that was not the case. He thinks he can do better next year. Karma is a ***** and I hope it bites him in the rear end. Enjoy Kingston. And the A10 with next to zero tv coverage.

Someone refresh my memory: wasn't Biruta one of the guys who left the program because of Rice?

Yes, Rice really was brutal trying to get the best out of Biruta. Really was all over him. Biruta finally tired of it and left. But I think he realized that he played his best basketball in his freshman and soph years at RU. He was a good player. Tough. Probably would have been better served staying at RU and getting his degree.

yes but that doesnt mean he felt he was treated right with those tapes....TP allowed a hit job by media with a best of tape that Murdock illegally stole from RU and spliced the worst together. I respect Biruta for respecting Mike's passion rather than just bash him. Biruta left because the Rice barrage was a little too much, that was his right but it wasnt as bad as the tapes made it out to be
