To me, this is easy. Proven winner. No more drinking. Healthy again. Hungry for another chance. He’d have us playing big time basketball within 12 months. Please do it Rick!

It would be the most interesting hire in basketball for sure. Eddie Sutton type risky. Both fired from Kentucky.

It is the right choice.

Assuming he is sober now. Get a mentor/monitor and its all good.

I can’t believe I’m actually recommending this, but go to Billy Clyde’s wikipedia page. Read the whole thing. It reads like a mini-novel. As much as I love the guy and will root for him always, hard pass for our job.

He and Eddie Sutton followed the same pathway, except Billy's medical conditions were much worse. He still may have been the best ever recruiter at the University of Tulsa. But he was 35 years old then with unlimited energy.

I love Billy Clyde more than most, having hung out with him a few times some 100 years ago. But I don't think he's the answer now. Ten to 15 years ago, absolutely. I remember he showed up at the CUSA tourney toward the end of the Woj era and we made sure to let him know that the job should be his if Woj were let go.
