It's good to see Bilas make an important statement about the idiotic reasoning or lack thereof of Steve Savarese, the executive director of AHSSA the governing body of rules and regulations for amateur players in HS. His illogical way of thinking needs to be changed immediately. He is punishing an innocent young lady, who had nothing to do with the clerical error that started this whole thing. This man needs to rethink the proportionality of his terrible ruling and reinsert Maori Davenport immediately.

My email to Savarese was almost immediately replied with a two-page response form letter.
It does not look like he or Alabama is going to back off on this.

Hopefully, if there is enough national media pressure, this fool will rethink his myopic thinking.

Someone needs to approach this differently

This governing body gets it's funding from all of the member schools just like the athletic associations in all states. If a large number of schools approach the elected assn. and voice their displeasure and or threaten to pull out of the assn. there goes the funding. These associations are there to represent the interests of the member schools. These guys (especially this guy) over time become God like power brokers what rule with an iron hand. Loss of power or loss of the very revenue stream will get their attention. So get the schools on board.

If not the family should try to get a big time attorney who believes in this case and sue the association. Do it at the state of better yet federal level and get their attention. Their is a circuit court and appeals available. I did this with my son and lost the battle but won the war as he got his eligibility. Bottom line was these athletic associations have a limited budget, and a prolonged legal battle would cripple financially most state associations win or lose. Attorneys love high profile things and sometimes do them pro bono. Money or the loss of money talks more times than not. Wonder how the guy would feel as the president of a bankrupt association?

I posted a link to letters to editor ( in it's own thread) to contact the Troy Messenger Newspaper so we can post our opinions on how unfair Maori is being treated.
I asked that all reading my letter to editor consider contacting their Alabama Elected Representatives and ask them to get involved in ending the injustice happening to one of their High School kids..
Lets put up a united front and let that newspaper and Town know that Rutgers fans care about Maori and don't like whats happening to her.

I saw it on Twitter. His name is Del Marsh @senatordelmarsh and he posted a copy of the letter he sent. He said that he had spoken to them when it happened, but in light of new evidence, they should reopen the investigation and consider reinstating her.

State Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh and Lieutenant Governor-elect Will Ainsworth on Monday called on the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) to immediately reinstate Maori Davenport for the remainder of her senior season at Charles Henderson High School in Troy.

So this clown says he can’t make an exception, when, in fact, he could easily, by saying it wasn’t Maori’s error and she is unjustly being punished. You can punish the people who made the mistake so it doesn’t set a precedent. This guy is a moron.

People who think everything is just black or white shouldn’t be in these prsotions. A high level position should require a person to actually think. If it’s that easy, why is this idiot even needed. These rules are in place so that people don’t abuse the system. What am I missing?

Their top hs players are commiting to RU and certain boosters with connections don't like that. Pure and simple its a threat message to hs coaches in AL , fairness doesn't factor into this picture at all. If she were a war eagle or crimson tide commit, no problemo.

I am very familiar with the University of Alabama and Alabama HS sports (to a lesser extent). I’ve spent a substantial amount of time in Tuscaloosa. You are 100% correct. That’s all they have down there.
