Comes early boys... i think NU goes into the Big house and upsets an overconfident Meatchicken team.. i know they have a so called great defense coming back but i believe this is the kind of offense that will give them fits.. the system we run and the fact that we have some playmakers.. especially in the offensive side. They are breaking in a new qb as well with shea and we get them early... Call me crazy but i just have a gut feeling they will beat them straight up.. who do you guys think will be our best win this year?

Michigan will have the best defense in the nation.
We were 4-8 last year.
We will be breaking in a new QB and entire offensive system.
We are on the road.
First B1G game and first big game.
They finally have a QB and a coaching staff determined to break through this year.

We are not winning that game.

huskerfan1414, hope springs eternal, but thanks for the reality check.

UCF 6-6 first year with a roster that in year 2 beat the **** out of Auburn, under Frost's watch.

Let's show some patience here people, especially in the Expectations Department.

Maybe we should go ahead and cancel it then. That sucks because my prediction was Michigan also.

C'mon.
You know what I meant.
Im trying to talk sense here. Dont put out a prediction thread about big wins and put it out there that we will beat michigan if you dont want it responded to.
Yes we should show up. Yes we should play hard and better not get blown out. Yes we have a chance to win, Im talking in terms of predictions (which you knew but acted like you didnt).
Here let me put it this way. Its our second toughest game in my opinion. If I were to throw out arbitrary odds, Id say we have a 15% chance to win this game. Michigan 85%.
Im perfectly fine being wrong about this. I just think people are underestimating Michigan, which is strange, and dont realize just how awful Nebraska was last season.

But kudos to you for your optimism.

I am a Michigan fan and see many reasonable responses on this thread.

Nebraska is coming to AA and it is the FIRST Big10 game of the season for both teams.

Michigan may be undefeated coming into this game or have 1 loss (Notre Dame) but in any case the Michigan team knows to win the Big 10 they have to win this game considering their BIG 10 schedule.

Nebraska will not sneak up on Michigan.

Many Michigan fans believe this will be a night game adding more importance to it and added incentive to the Michigan team.

Don Brown's defense is built to stop a spread offense based on the overall speed.

If this game was in Lincoln I would be more worried as a Michigan fan.

Frost is your Harbaugh and I think ultimately he will be very successful.

I believe Nebraska will improve over the year and be in position to beat Sparty at home later in the year. Of course I am hoping for this.

Reading your site I can see where the reputation of Nebraska fans being courteous and knowledgeable is well deserved.

Michigan will wax Nebraska.

If Nebraska can somehow win 5 out of 7 in the Colorado, Troy, Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Minnesota stretch, I’ll be very very happy.

I think the majority would agree, need to play all 4 quarters in the Michigan and Wisconsin games losing those two games is one thing but I don’t want too see this team give up and lose 49-17...

Tired of getting our *** handed to us against the elite.

Michigan ended up 105th total offense and 91st scoring offense hardly elite but the defense was and hopefully will be again.

This Don Brown guy is a defensive genius and is probably Harbaugh's best get. Any team would be lucky to have him.

Last year Michigan had the youngest offense in Div1 football but still managed to scratch out 8 wins due to Don Browns D.

I am hopeful that with a year of seasoning, healthy receiving corps, stability in o-line coaching and upgrade in QB that Michigan will boast a top 40 (hopefully top 25) offense. If...IF...we can get that top 40 Offense then this is a 10 win team. If we can get a top 25 offense then Michigan will be a playoff contender even with its tough schedule. I think the Defense will be that good.

Ah...July where hope springs eternal. Man, I love college football!

I think Michigan beats Nebraska comfortably but not a blowout.

I think you guys have a winning season too.

Go Blue!

I think because of communication, new system, new QB, etc the first part of the season is going to be a little bumpy. I think we get beat by Michigan, but I also think it will be a hard fought game where the final score may not be indicative of how hard fought the game actually was. I think this team and staff will learn from early season struggles and turn those struggles into wins. I look for us to finish strong with wins over Sparty and the Herkies.

This. I think what most of us are going to be looking for this year is an increased competitiveness. I think we will almost certainly lose to OSU, MU, and Wisky. But what I hope to see are losses where, at the very least, we are more than a six inch speed bump or an anemic fly at a picnic. We need to make the other guys work for it. We need to avoid blowouts like 56-3. We need to send the message that NU is done rolling over in games like a frightened possum.

I think MSU is overrated and a target, I also think they’ll play Wisconsin tough, may not upset them, but will give them a run. Beating Iowa should become an expectation, not an upset, we’ll be fired up for this one. tOSU is too talented and I hope we just stay close to them and force 3-4 punts. Michigan is also a hard one to see, since it’s still relatively early in the season, and they have a tough D. Of course the reality is we don’t really know what we have, what Frost can realistically accomplish with the athletes he has, and what their upside might be. I saw the Athlon comparison of our starters vs. the other Big teams, and we come out quite poorly (under-rated at Linebacker and Receiver, IMO). But, I can accept their rankings because how little they/we really know ar this point. In any event, I think it will be fun to watch how this team progresses without boneheaded coaching.

Yes. even if HCSF & staff are not supermen they surely will be a MASSIVE improvement over the totally inept Beaver staff. However, for year one, that includes a brutal schedule to deal with. As you mention, watching NU actually show up for games with a will to win is a desperately needed breath of fresh air.

  1. Michigan State is the obviously choice. It was Mike Riley's biggest win at Nebraska
  2. It was Kirk Ferentz's first win in the Big Ten, though Northwestern should of been (replay followed that one after 1999)
  3. Iowa could be another pick up, since it is becoming a rivalry game and Nebraska has a better track record at Kinnick, in this one. Iowa has 3 wins lately in Lincoln, but only one at Kinnick.
  4. A win at Michigan would be a surprise, since in Ann Arbor, but never say never.
  5. Winning on the road in Big Ten isn't easy.
  6. It should be an interesting season in the Big Ten

After the last couple of years there are plenty of candidates for payback. At the top of my list would be Wisconsin. That win would give me the most satisfaction with Iowa a very close second.
