If we can put it together and pull it off tonight, we will miraculously be in 8th place in the Big Ten standings. We’re in 12th right now ahead of OSU and Michigan but will skyrocket past Maryland, Penn State, Iowa, and Indiana if we win tonight. It’s a jumble in there but this game will put us right in the middle of it all. Coming from the basement 14th about a week and a half ago, it’s incredible to think we could end up 8th later today.

Parity/mediocrity in the B1G Tern this season leads to a cluster of teams with similar records.I doubt there will be more than 6 teams getting NCAA bids.

Getting to that 5-6 seed does set up a scary Q3 B1G tourney game though

Michigan is the only surefire Q3. PSU and Indiana are borderline.

Neutral court so Q3 doesn't start until 101

If we get close to a 5-6 seed that also means we've been winning. Bring on whoever in the first round

If we beat NW and Purdue beats Minnesota, standings are as followed

1)Purdue 12-2
2)Illinois 9-4
3)Wisconsin 9-5
T4)Michigan St 8-6, NW 8-6
6)Nebraska 7-7
T7)Minnesota, Indiana, Rutgers 6-7
T10)Maryland, Iowa, Penn St 6-8
13)Ohio St 4-10
14)Michigan 3-11

9 teams within 2 games of each other with 6 or 7 games remaining playing for the 4th double bye or playing on the first day.

It is totally within our control to finish strong in the standings. Winning the next two would give us tiebreaker edges over both NW and MN. Same with beating Maryland again, or winning at Nebraska or Wisconsin. Those two games both loom large as Q1 opportunities, too.

Is it 6:30 yet? Let's do this!

that was fun.

the default only has us winning against Mich and being a 12 seed.

winning just 1 more (total of 2) still keeps us at a 12 seed.

seems getting 3 more wins and we jump into the 8-9 seed range. totally do-able!!!

then it gets tough to move up a lot - ran a bunch of scenarios where we win 4, 5 or 6 more wins and we end with 7 seed

bottom line: with the log jam it seems like there are two humps to get over:

* get 3 more wins and we jump up to 8-9 seed territory

* get to 7 more wins and then we jump up to 5 seed territory

the above only against RU wins. I left the defaults the same for the other non-RU games

Yes. This is all true. Would be stunning turnaround. No one, maybe other than Aaron Breitman, saw this as still possible.
