Yep, big ice storm. Up to a half-inch of freezing rain and anywhere from 1-3 inches of sleet. Going to be a MESSLooking more and more like an ice storm now. We just moved to West Jefferson back in the fall and have already had several decent snows this year, but were really looking forward to a massive one this weekend. Instead I read the updated forecast this morning and went to Lowe's to buy a bunch of ice melt before they sold out.

Might even still be mostly dry-at least from the Big One comingNear the I-95 corridor in SC and NC, would you expect the roads to be passable during the daytime on Friday and Saturday? Highs seem like they will be in the mid to low 40s.
We moved our trip to next weekend. Blowing Rock Winterfest was moved also. Just a small amount of sleet and snow in Chapel Hill. Far less than forecasted. We nixed our plans to go to the mountains. I told my wife “we may not be able to get home Sunday.
I saw that. We just ate there 2 weeks ago. One of the best places in the area.Bistro Roca in BR burned this morning.View attachment 1163274

WRAL is the worst. They over hype everything by using drama and scare tactics to make the viewers stay tuned to them. Then when their predictions always fall far short they tell the viewers that things went exactly like they predicted and they were the first to tell us. Yeah right, like we have no recall memory of what you had been saying. Not my station of choice when I need real information and accuracy. This might’ve been the most overhyped storm ever…
