Big snow coming this weekend?

Seems like most of NC could be in for a good size snow this coming weekend. Any of you doing anything special to prepare?
Are you going to hate it or love it?

Looking more and more like an ice storm now. We just moved to West Jefferson back in the fall and have already had several decent snows this year, but were really looking forward to a massive one this weekend. Instead I read the updated forecast this morning and went to Lowe's to buy a bunch of ice melt before they sold out.

We'll probably still get some here in the High Country, but I think the majority of NC needs to prepare for ice and power outages.

Yep, big ice storm. Up to a half-inch of freezing rain and anywhere from 1-3 inches of sleet. Going to be a MESS

Near the I-95 corridor in SC and NC, would you expect the roads to be passable during the daytime on Friday and Saturday? Highs seem like they will be in the mid to low 40s.

Might even still be mostly dry-at least from the Big One coming

With .75 of freezing rain hitting three big metro areas in NC this will be crippling and catastrophic. So many people are unprepared, me included.

I'm in Wilmington and it looks as if we may skirt most of it but still expecting sleet and freezing rain. Stay safe everyone!

We nixed our plans to go to the mountains. I told my wife “we may not be able to get home Sunday.

We moved our trip to next weekend. Blowing Rock Winterfest was moved also. Just a small amount of sleet and snow in Chapel Hill. Far less than forecasted.

Mostly a bust in Asheville. Watching the radar, the storm kept splitting right around Asheville. There was some black ice from overnight sleet but morning rains melted it off and it’s now 40 degrees. Areas within 30 minutes got hit worse.

We got nothing but a cold rain in Wilmington and it's now 46°. Not expected to get much cooler overnight and into tomorrow.

We got sleet and snow and I am very thankful for that after seeing what the folks in Nashville TN are dealing with. 80% of the city is out of power. Hendersonville and Transylvania county got major freezing rain and thousands upon thousands of folks won’t have power for a while as well. We were lucky. Probably got three inches of sleet and snow altogether. Roads are covered. Doubt there will be school here all week with the temps they are forecasting. There won’t be much melting.

This might’ve been the most overhyped storm ever…
WRAL is the worst. They over hype everything by using drama and scare tactics to make the viewers stay tuned to them. Then when their predictions always fall far short they tell the viewers that things went exactly like they predicted and they were the first to tell us. Yeah right, like we have no recall memory of what you had been saying. Not my station of choice when I need real information and accuracy.

Of course it will change, but now the extended forecast has us in Wilmington with a chance of snow next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

My family and I left to go to the coast because of the dire predictions. WRAL said those in Wake needed to be prepared for "days without power." They said at least a day without power was almost assured. I know they are only as good as the models but the models clearly suck. We came home yesterday and the roads were totally dry and everything was fine.

It does sound like we could get snow on Saturday so let's see how it plays out.

This storm could be potentially more dangerous just because now people are not going to give it any thought because the last one was a dud and let their guards down.

Very modest amount around 2" expected here in Chapel Hill as well as Raleigh. 6+" in Charlotte area and more than that to the east and south of Raleigh. I would like to see more but want to go to the Syracuse game Monday night. If we had 6" or so no way they would have the roads cleared. So I will enjoy our little dusting!

An absolute flop of a weather forecast for central NC and not exactly a very accurate one for eastern NC. Not even close to the snow totals that were forecast.
