But his analysis of the current state of the Nebraska football program is bulletproof.
Yeah, JP hit the nail on the head with several of his points. One thing that gets me is all of the time spent amongst fans arguing about Riley vs. Pelini and Pelini vs. Callahan when the actual answer is none of the above. NU needs to find a tough coach who recruits mostly tough players who like to work hard. Until then, we'll continue to be a 2-9 level type program that gets upgraded several wins a year due to recruiting advantages Big Red football offers.

I love JP. Dude tells it like it is!

I watched this online a couple days ago and you are not kidding!

The reaction of Kevin, Blake and Damon is awesome when JP goes on his rants.

JP is pissed off and does not sugarcoat anything when it comes to the state of the football program and the athletic department.

Jason Peter is a bit of an *** if you ask me. Bill Moos is a bad hire because it lowers our chances of getting Frost? Never mind the Oregon connection. Never mind that Moos is a dynamic personality with a can-do attitude. Nope. He ain't a Nebraska boy like Trev Alberts or Ed Stewart so Frost won't want to come here. If Frost is that shallow or stupid I don't want him here then.

And this isn't the first time Jason has spouted flatulent nonsense. I quit listening to him a long time ago. Don't mistake his "Rah Rah yeah baby Nebraska tough!!" exuberance for reasoned discourse. We all admire those teams he played on. I get what he is saying about culture. All the rest is ********

Sorry, but I have to disagree. JP is my all-time favorite and I'll listen to him all day long.

Jason certainly is bombastic at times, and I like his passion about the program, but he needs to at least give Moos a chance at righting the ship.

What was he talking about with coordinator and players getting their feelings hurt?

Care to elaborate on the recruiting advantages we have??? And please don’t tell me 20 years ago. Millennials don’t give 2 poops about the past. Instant gratification is all they want and know.

JP said many things I have been thinking. I dont blame him one bit for being pissed about whats happened to the program he gave his all to. I agree with everything he said accept for the moos comments. Bill should get a chance to do his job before anything negative is said. Not surprised at what Blake said about the lack of accountability and player leadership in 07. Looks very similar today. I really hope the next HC can bring back the culture they spoke of because the current culture is not good.

Completely disagree. He offers good in-sight at times. I like him MUCH better than listening to Benning who sugar coats everything and beats around the bush so much with what he says that it's often difficult to understand exactly what point he is trying to make.

Oh, I'm just saying that we have recruiting advantages over other bad programs. Let's face it, we can not only out recruit bad programs, but have even topped decent programs in the rankings. Think about the Twitter followers recruits gain, and the sell out crowds, the investment in facilities and the bells & whistles.

A recruit is treated like a celebrity. That attracts a certain type of 4 & 5 star recruit. But is that the best type of 4 & 5 star recruit? We need to bring in more 4 stars who are blue collar types that couldn't care less about hype. But those guys are being recruited HARD by the good programs.

Back to an important point......... What was the player revolt comment about hard practice leading up to OSU game and how coddled are these players?

I think there was more wrong with his statement than just the Moos thing. How about his slamming of our recruits from California? He flat out said kids from California are not tough. Give me a break. I didn't realize that whole states should just be ignored in our recruiting if Peter thinks they are pansy land. We have had some damn good players from California over the years. What's next? We shouldn't recruit big city kids because they are all thugs? Or we shouldn't recruit Florida kids because they all smoke weed? Or we shouldn't recruit white southern kids because they are all racists? His comments about California recruits was just moronic.

If he weren't a former player from our glory days nobody would listen to him. And by the way... his past isn't exactly pristine either. I like how people forget that. And isn't he from New Jersey? Aren't they all mafia there?

The comments he made that I agree with are simple observations anyone can see. Our team is playing poorly and lacks an identity and toughness. Duh. Such a genius he is!

I guess I didn't take Jason's comments as blanket statements. He is ultra-passionate about seeing his team return to championship-caliber football, and I can appreciate that. No doubt, his comments aren't always PC, which I can also appreciate.

I don't think he did mean it as a blanket statement either. But it came across that way because that is how he speaks. The deal is simple: he hates Riley as a coach and now he will just latch onto anything that he can use as a bludgeon against him. So we have this "Calibraska" thing - - a thing 99% of the people on this board were excited about when it got started. But Peter just uses it as one more argument against Riley. But it makes no sense. Instead of criticizing Riley for recruiting kids out of California, he should be criticizing him for not developing those kids and/or for recruiting the wrong kind of California athlete. But my guess is those are the kinds of athletes Riley wants no matter what State you find them in.

I admire his passion as well. But I really don't like half of what he says. Because when you peel back the layers and get beyond his high powered, emotional, Big Red boosterism (which I like), you often find out that what he is saying just doesn't make any sense. Adam Carriker is just as animated and exuberant. But he is far more careful in what he says

I didn't listen to what he said but I do know there was a LOT of practicing that week.
Not commenting on good or bad, just what I've heard.

I guy who wants to be a celebrity is one of the reasons this program isn't working. But of coarse most Husker fans thinking making a 17 kid one will equate to NC

I think that there was so much noise (volume) with Jason it was hard to discern his point. I think his exact quote was something to the effect of California can’t be our whole base of recruiting; what he was getting at was that Nebraska needs talent but equal parts toughness and talented recruits that are willing to go to work to rebuild a culture of winning. And I totally agree with that. There is a glaring lack of talented leaders on this team and in recent years for sure. Guys like Ameer, that cared about the big picture, the vision that Damon B is always preaching about. Playing for something other then yourself. Jason is saying we need more of that, wherever that comes from. He doesn’t think that’s local to CA, right or wrong I agree with the premise of the need and this team needs leaders as much as 4/5 star recruits. If you can find those talented guys that want to grind every day then you can build something

Yeah...but..."culture eats strategy for breakfast (Peter Drucker)." Everyone debates whether its stars or coaching. Both are wrong. It's culture...in addition to stars and coaching. If we haven't learned that over the last 20 years, we've learned nothing. Also, he emphasized with Damon that the players, NOT the coaches, solidify and maintain the all-critical premium culture. The head coach and staff set the tone and recruit players who have high odds of taking the culture to the next level. THAT's what's been missing in Lincoln for a very long time now.

Jason's earned the right to carry on as he pleases regarding how he comports himself. I agree he's a bit nuts. However, put just one like him in the locker room, and the tenner would change in a good way in terms of preparation and on-field performance.

Agreed the Cali kids comment was over the top. I don't think they are all soft. However I totally understand his frustration with the current state of the program. And hes earned a right to complain about it IMO. Obviously hes over this staff and doesn't think it would improve much under them with more time. So he wants change. So do I. So do many others.
