Big Idea... No selection committee

Just post the top 68 teams in order. At 3pm the number one seed is on the clock like a draft. Coaches pick their spot on the bracket in order. Maybe they get 1-2 minutes to pick. They can base their pick on game location or competition or whatever. No complaints because they pick where they go and who they play. I wouldn't even mind if they used NET ranking to determine the order. I'd pay to watch this.

I’ve always thought it would be cool for the 5 - 16 Seeds to be revealed and then the top 4 seed (13th overall team) picks which bracket they want to be in, then you go to the 14th, 15th and 16th seeds the. You go to the top 3 seed (9th overall) and so on. The last 4 picks in order would be the #1 overall, #2 overall, #3 overall ajd #4 overall in that order.

Yeah but go in reverse order that way the 1s know the entire bracket before they choose.

Like go line by line. Best 16th to Worst 16th, Best 15th to Worst 15th and so on.

And then after everyone picks regions let the top 16 go in order and selected their preferred 1st and 2nd round sites.

Taking this one step further tho you don't even need to committee to seed teams. Just use NET or Kenpom or some metric or a combination of a bunch.

Imagine if team number 2 decides to take on the number 1 team first game of the tourney.

It would be cool. You can make it a big TV event too. People would love it.

The side benefit is Joe Lundari and Jerry Palm would be out of a job lol.

This. Pick a metic and seed soley on it with slight considerations to recent play.

I actually really like this idea. Would make the selection show absolutely incredible to watch.

Kenpom: UT 8 Duke 12
NET: UT 8 Duke 13
BPI: UT 5 Duke 11
Sagarin: UT 8 Duke 11

I'm just saying if we went by metrics there would be zero politics and teams like UT would have rightfully been placed ahead of Duke on that 2 line.

I've said to try something like this before in previous years but to many people would probably lose their jobs over it. For that reason it probably wouldn't happen.

If not that then come up with a good computer ranking system and stop worrying about locations and just use the s curve and let the computer pick the teams without any people involved. Put the rankings out there like a month or two before Selection Sunday to keep things transparent and to let teams know where they stand.

I prefer the let teams pick where they want to go system mentioned up above. Start at 16 seeds and let them pick from 61 to 64 (dump the play in crap). Then 15 seeds pick from 57 to 60. All the way down to 1 seeds. You could pick based on how the matchups look to you or you could choose more for the location.

I like the idea of doing like the NBA Draft and be on the clock for so many minutes to make your decision. Could make for some good TV. Then have a post selection show to discuss the picks. Could make for like a good 3 hour event.

This would be so much more fun to watch than indignant talking heads and teenagers taking pictures of themselves on TV
