Seems that ESPN is expecting BIG 12 fans to pay, while everyone else gets their network via a cable subscription that BIG 12 fans also pay for for the most part, but they aren't holding up their end of the production of these games:

Big 12 remains ‘very enthusiastic’ about ESPN+ despite K-State/OSU streaming problems

For some Kansas State football fans, the most frustrating part of their team’s 26-13 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium had little to do with the game itself.

Upset as they were that the Wildcats lost for the first time under new coach Chris Klieman, their emotions ran much hotter about the subscription-only streaming network that broadcast the contest — ESPN+.

After paying $5 to view the game online, their complaints ranged from blurry picture quality to poor camera angles and unprepared announcers ... when they could watch the action. ESPN+ was slow to return to the game when it resumed following a lightning delay, and viewers missed the final minutes of the second quarter. They stared at the words “technical difficulties” while Skylar Thompson hit Sammy Wheeler for a 39-yard pass up the right sideline and the Wildcats scored their first points on a field goal from Blake Lynch.

“Those things just wouldn’t happen if the game was on ESPN or ESPN2,” K-State athletic director Gene Taylor said. “We were told any conference game on ESPN+ would be produced at that level and it clearly wasn’t at that level. We do a better production job when we do games in house than they did at Oklahoma State.”

WVu joins this full time next year. Hopefully there are not going to be many Mountaineer games on this outlet as originally it was suuposed to be one.

Sad that everyone else is having to put football here but apparently OU and UT are sharing in whatever revenue ther is-- from Bowlsbys statements it doesnt appear to be much.

This brings up the question of how this affects WVUs earnings via IMG college--where these rights are held. They have been distributed on Root-- now via espn+.

Again, the only way to change this is via expansion and increasing the conference footprint.

How do you know Bucky? You can't even afford the 5 dollars a month. Quit being a poor

Oklahoma State and Kansas State fans are unhappy with the product quality.

Why would I spend $5 or $6 to watch a few games if they are of poor quality?

As to how do I know? Read the article, commissioner Bowlsby states emphatically the reason the league doesnt have a network like everyone else is due to a smaller footprint that makes it infeasible.

Quit being a jack@$$ and try reading before you respond.

Pay for the channel and then charge your friends beer to come watch it.
Always have to make something out of nothing. You are looking at the negative like a troll while I am looking at the positive.

Don't have to be a lowlife forever

Welcome to the ground floor of the future to college football. This is the begining of all college games being a PPV

This from the guy that wants college athletes to get paid and yet wants to contribute nothing.

As they say if you can't pay, there's always radio.

The Big XII should NOT expand just because of this BS.

Or maybe this is a ploy to sway people in the direction of accepting expansion.

I say NO. I say NEVER.

No significant rating will come out of this. There’s only 10-15 good teams every year.

There is the blue Chip ratio.
50% of your players have to be 4 or 5 star
There is only about 15 of these teams every year. No recent team has won a NC with one lower

Teams like Oregon are on the outside this year.

But according to the real elitist you have to maintain a 92 average according to the 247 composite

You can sneak in with a 91 or 90 but much harder.

For example there are only 6 schools who have an average recruiting ranking of 92 for the 2020 class

Clemson
Alabama
LSU
Ohio State
Texas
Georgia

Cool. You can slice and dice all ya want anyway ya want. Spend time making something up. Or take credit for someone else’s work and not crediting them. Not saying that’s you. At the end of the day the same names appear at the top. I’m going with money buys happiness. But cool metric.

Edit: I’m thinking your method is the only thing that gets Texas close to the Big Boy table. Oklahoma has carried the joke Big12 for years at the top level. You be funny with finding a way make Texas relevant.

Expansion is a way for WVU to make more money in order to stay closer to peer instutuions in the SEC and Big Ten in recruiting, coaching hires and facilities.

Expansion could benefit WVU by providing closer programs with which to compete which would somewhat alleviate massive travel expenses each year.

Expansion could allow for WVUs conference to be more secure in landing playoff spots, and with the elimination of round robin play would give WVU a better shot at actually getting to the playoff one day.

Expansion would deliver more inventory for the conference to monetize and allow for much greater exposure for each member institution.

Lots of reasons it would be good for both the conference and WVu individually, which is why WVUs president and many others supported doing just that.

How novel K-State Athletic Director tells it like it is.

Agree. He is on the front line and has to contend with angry fans and alumni that now have to dole out more money to see their team play.

At the same time he has to explain why the quality of production is lower than what the school itsself can provide when it was promised as network quality. That will hurt both espn and the conference in meeting their goals via this new outlet.

Blue Chip ratio I believe came from Bud Elliott.
I think some think that the Blue Chip ratio should determine the CFP teams.
Meaning 2015 Michigan State and 2016 Washington doesn't get in.

The recruiting average being 92 is beimg pushed now.
A few programs the last 2-3 years are recruiting much higher than everyone else. People are saying that the number of top 100 recruits going to fewer and fewer schools.

The CFP is one of the reasons.
Regarding Texas. Both them and LSU haven't appeared in a CFP but both have a natural recruiting advantage and are recruiting the West hard.

What is going on in the PAC 12 recruiting zone pretty much explains college football today.
