Details???Penn St-Ohio St. Hell of a dual tonight. Fun to watch
Is Nebraska any good? I don't follow wrestling. How do the Huskers stack up against the rest o the Big 10?
That was awesome. Kyle Snyder got all and more than he wanted from the PSU heavyweight. He was gassed and you could see the relief on his face when that match was over.Penn State wins 19-18. Olympic and world champ, Kyle Snyder needed a major decision to win the dual, but he only won by a handful of points over the #6 ranked heavyweight in the nation. This gave osu 3 team points instead of 4. At 197 an unranked psu wrestler knocked off one of the top ranked wrestlers in the nation and that made all the difference. Unbelievable night of wrestling from top to bottom in a great venue. BTN Network even thought it was a good dual, as they took some air time away from men's basketball during their wrap up show for the day!
Ranked 15th in the nation, middle of the B1G. They have a couple of returning all Americans that have struggled this year, a few decent newcomers, and 6 or 7 guys ranked in the top 20 in their weight class and should compete at Nationals in a month. I was high on them early, then they disappointed in the middle, and now they are improving again. I am waiting for the magic Frost dust to be sprinkled on them!
Very good summary of the season so far. The returning AAs just haven't seemed to put it together yet. I'm not sure anyone of them are ranked in the top 8, and the others who are ranked are in that #15-20 range. There is a big disparity, it seems, from the top 5 ranked in each weight class.
I am excited for the next couple of years. There are 2 kids from Iowa. One is committed to Nebraska one committed to Iowa. They we're both undefeated in there high school career until they both wrestled this year twice. They each won a match. That could be a fun rivalry watch develop between the 2.Tyler Berger was a point or two away from being the finals last year.... Then he trains/travels/spars with two of the best wrestlers on the planet for 6+ months in Burroughs and Green during the offseason. I thought he was going to destroy people this year. Not so much unfortunately.
I will stop revealing what a wrestling nerd I am now.... GBR!
Man, Iowa State must have really fallen off. I thought they were a perennial Top 10 team, weren't they?Ten of the Top 20 wrestling programs are in the Big Ten. Talk about a Murderers' Row of college wrestling. Like volleyball, the higher level of competition only makes Nebraska better. You compete with the best, and recruits want to face the best.

I don't follow wrestling closely, but I remember Nebraska hosting the National Duels in the 90s.
