Play the tourney over the summer and let the incoming class participate. Can u imagine Cliff joining this crew for the tourney?

- pick one metro for all games (like a mini Olympics). A place with multiple venues within 30 min.
- practice starts june 15
- play the first round over 4th of july weekend
- wrapping up with final four last week of july

Most teams are traveling and playing summer tourneys in june-july anyway. With travel restrictions in place thatll prohibit them from doing that anyway.

A 4th of july ncas tournament is the next best alternative to the real thing, in my humble opinion

Anything would be better than sharp season end with tournament cancellation. I understand the focus is on the medical issue and I’m not downplaying that, but throwing the whole accomplishment in the trash can is so unfair to these kids. It’s not just RU - what about the small conference auto bid winners?

That approach makes no sense for anyone. There is no health risk whatsoever to postponing the opening rounds indefinitely but proceeding with the Selection process and assuring the kids that an attempt will be made to set something up later. This is the right PR move even if they don’t truly intend to actually move forward with trying to make an alternative time work later. Nobody has to know that right now. It would still be better to know where your slot would be if it happens.

No - of course not. Just like a sit out transfer doesn’t play. It wouldn’t be that bad if they act quickly. Assure the public that effort will be made and still keep the Selection Sunday hype. The schools work to develop monitoring protocols to regularly test the players and practice resumes. Tourney teams could scrimmage each other in confined environments and the season sort of extends. It’s different - but not necessarily that bad.

Flat out cancellation is bad. I understand the country is in state of emergency but sports
Is a good outlet for a break from the panic. What is everyone going to do for weeks or months on end sitting at home?

My idea is equally practical.

Have Strat-O-Matic create cards for each player on each team and have the coaches play it virtually.

The good news is we can use Johnson’s FG shooting without him catching a pass.

Open question is whether the points scored in the virtual tourney are included in a player’s career totals.

Best alt is going to Arizona where it's pretty hot and playing the games outside during the day, weather permitting, with audience limited to close family (6-8 person limit per player).

NCAA streetball tournament.

Why? I don’t understand what the big deal is to hold the thing in a month or so when (if) this thing blows over.

You might want to check on some news sources. Blowing over in a month does not seem like a likely scenario. (Not impossible, just not likely.)
