Be happy with our progress

People forget we were picked 12th in the Big 10 and are sitting at 6th at 17-6 with 8 regular season games to go with a team of a lot of sophomores and freshman in one of the toughest conferences in the country.

If you look at our losses we’ve typically been beaten due to an elite scorer like Cowan, Winston, Garza or Johns who was hot.

The biggest missing puzzle piece is a consistent shooter.

Do you think Pikiell doesn’t realize this?

Under Pikiell we’ve improved each year.

We now are investing in facilities and our sports.

People think we are going to go from loosing seasons 13 years in a row to what?

Having a realistic chance in every game is a nice change.
The negativity and expectations are ridiculous.

Support the coach, team and our improvement and hopefully each year the team will learn, grow and continue take steps in the right direction.

I excited and happy we aren’t a laughing stock in basketball.

Hopefully in a few years we’ll get to the same place in football and show everyone we belong in both sports.

I was just thinking the same thing, and trying to find the best thread to post it in.

Your team is really good. And in my opinion it's mostly because you have a good coach. I know we all think every player on our own team is an All-American, but the truth is that there are no All-Americans on your roster. Yet your coach has rustled up a team that is very hard to beat out of a good but not great roster.

Amazing job by Pike. I had no idea he could do it this fast.

I'm just an amateur message board dork, but I'm very impressed and hope you can find a way to enjoy the season, including your NCAA appearance.

Pike needs a higher level of recruit. He is squeezing everything out of these guys but they each have flaws and while we can win by everyone chipping in what happens is there are times where you need to count on one guy and we dont have one with Geo hurt. Yeboah gone next year is going to be an issue. We arent good shooters that will not change, we play great defense and are very opportunistic but we just have limits.

He is squeezing everything out of these guys but they each have flaws and while we can win by everyone chipping in what happens is there are times where you need to count on one guy and we dont have one with Geo hurt. I think the marquis recruits will come soon. Kids don't forget the roar of the crowd that I heard the entire game last time I watched one that was played at the RAC. Awesome fanbases matter, and you have one...

Hopefully being 15-0 at home and competitive and fun to watch helps him get some of those recruits. Winning and improving comes first and then better recruits come.

Or you spend millions and get an amazing name of a coach who can bring in those recruits day one.

As Pike likes to say, "enjoy the journey". I think what makes these losses so excruciating is we're so close. I only hope we have an incoming frosh to replace Yeboah's offense.

I also find it humorous that the ones who complain the loudest about our close loses and poor shooting are the ones who predict we would get walloped by 15+.
