To take our minds off of football, how do you think we do in basketball this year? Does Haith get fired if we don't dance this year? How do we do against Oklahoma State?

Oklahoma State will finish last in the Big12 this season. If we’re judging this team by that game we’re making a mistake. They have high level talent coming in but this year will be a struggle in Stillwater.

TU should be in the conversation for an at-large this season. I actually think we make the tourney. Both Tap and Jeffries should garner all conference consideration. Should be the best TU team in more than a decade.

I refuse to make predictions because it always ends in my own disappointment.

On paper, we have the talent, depth, and shooting ability to make the NCAA tournament and win a game or two.

Not convinced we will make it though. But I am pumped for the season to start we are going to be a lot fun to watch.

If we can get out of Non-Conference with no bad losses, we should do well. Hopefully this year is different.

It’s frightening when you seem more, or roughly the same, optimistic as me.

As much as we disagree on lots of things, you typically are more realistic heading into games/seasons than I am. So now I’m thinking we will have a good year!

I predict 11-2 OOC, 6-1 in November and 5-1 in December. I’ll guess 12-6
in conference. 23-8 heading into the conference tourney. Win 2 and get
an at-large at 25-9, 7 seed. It may not go that way but that’s my fantasy
for now.

That may be somewhere close....I really think that our chances for an at-
large may hinge on our back-up PG play....If Joiner (and/or Barnes/Jackson)
can give Tap enough rest without destroying our momentum, we have a
real chance.....

This should be an entertaining season......!

As per usual we are betting on some guys to make the big shots. Henderson and Etou will be tough to replace, and you never know with newcomers. Love to be wrong, but most likely a couple games over 500 when all is said and done.

I’m more worried about the production from the 2 and the 3. Need Horne / Scott / Moore / Korita to show something.

Alchemy thanks for showing that you don’t know crap about hoops. A couple games over .500? So we will be much worse than last season? Yea ok big guy.

I’m encouraged by several reports from the scrimmage and from what some others have said they’ve seen first hand, but I also get the caution to get too excited. We (as fans) have been let down just about every year since 2003... 15 years of underperforming will do that to you.

However, I do hope we surprise some folks this year and not only get to the dance, but win a game or two. I think it would do a lot for our programs perception in the community.

The coaches poll has picked us to finish 9. LOL.
This lack of blatant disrespect makes me roll my eyes and a prediction we will absolutely shatter.

I know I said earlier in this thread I don't make predictions. But I'm confident we will finish better than 9th in the conference. I think WORST case scenario we finish 6th (and that would be if we have 2 or 3 starters injured during conference place).

TU has never gotten respect in the coaches poll. I don't if it is anti-Haith thing, or the coaches want to bolster "marquee" names.

We will be better than Temple, SMU, and WSU this season. I think 6th is likely.

6th would be a huge disappointment imo. I don't think we will be better next year after losing Tap and Jeffries. Need to make some noise this season. While we're at it...recruiting must pick up as well.

The reason I can't put us higher is that we have no real "go to" scorer. Taplin masquerades as one, but he's really not that guy. Jeffries hasn't been able to get his own. Igbanu doesn't have the clutch gene. I was hoping Horne could be that guy...but from what we're all hearing it doesn't sound like it. I'm holding out hope for Scott or Moore to show they can score on important possessions when the play breaks down.

Well, AAC poll has us in 9th. Wichita State in 8th. Think we feel disrespected, go see the WSU meltdown on Twitter.

I'm more optimistic than that....The new comers are not freshmen...All are
at least two years removed from HS. Barnes, Moore, Horne, and Falokun
should all help....Last season's first year players; Jeffries, Joiner, and Scott
should all be better.....If we start well, there is a good chance at 24-25 wins...
Experience and depth are on our side this time around....

We should handle OSU if we are the best TU team in a decade.

Curious who you'd have above us in conference?

I said 6th is worst case scenario because I think, as a whole, the conference won't be as good as last season. I do expect Cinci and Houston to be very good this year though.

After watching the media day video I hope we go 31-0. Tulsa might as well not exist for the coverage they got.

This has kind of been a trend now... we seem to be left off of a lot of things with the conference. Gragg should say something, but I’m sure he won’t.

UCF, Cincy and Houston would be my top 3. I would pick us 4th.
I still don't buy into UCF. I feel this is the "Year they've been waiting for" and will fall miserably flat. I've been hearing about how good BJ Taylor is but haven't seen it. Tacko is giant and can only play in 3-4 minute segments. And maybe Dawkins' kid is decent but we haven't seen him actually play. And haven't Taylor and Fall spent part of each of the last 2-3 seasons dinged and missing key games? There's no evidence that suggests they can stand up to an entire season.

And then there's the Temple and UCONN side of things. Yes, Ollie was a terrible in game coach, but he had tons of talent on the floor. That talent alone should have been good for 3-4 more wins per season. I really like Hurley as a coach but I'm not sure there will be that much of a new attitude in Storrs this season. Next year might be the year they get everything back. And then there is Temple. Let's go ahead and just say they will finish 8th or below because that seems to happen every year with them.

Is Gray still in Houston? If not I don't see them being as effective. WSU will be flat this year. Marshall is a good coach but it seems like he will go through what we went through 2 years ago with all the turnover. Cincy will be Cincy and we'll all want to punch Cronin. Memphis-I have no idea what to expect outside of an NCAA investigation into how many runners got paid to get Penny's guys there. SMU-Jankovich sucks. That's all I need to say about them.

More reason why he isn't the right guy here.

Lot of passiveness in our athletic department leadership.

Actually though I'm okay with this for the season. People are in for quite a surprise I think.

As a program we better be top half minimum and I expect top third most years (which Haith has pretty much done). Every once in a while I expect us to compete for the top team. I think this is the year we do that.

Taplin is a bake you a cake type guy who will get it done. Jefferies is an offensively gifted version of Eric Coley. If Igbanu can prove a consistent post threat this team may be scary good. They have the sort of defenders who can cause havoc, long athletic, and interchangable. If they run an aggressive zone you will see a lot of breaks start on the wing. Man to man will see lots of passing lanes cut off.

The AAC is more open this year probably than any previous year. It's may be one of the better years for depth. If everybody does what they are suppose to it's a 3-5 bid league. I expect Houston and Cincy to go dancing, UCF should if they stay healthy. UConn will be rolling come conference play, Wichita with Marshall will always be tough, us and SMU should also be good. Who knows with Penny what Memphis will be like. Temple is in a weird transition year so I think they could go either way. Tulane is getting better but it's two steps forward one back. USF and ECU are in the middle of rebuilds. Everyone but SMU and the bottom three have an at large capable schedule.

If we stay reasonably healthy and actually finish 9th, then I will have to say
that we are in one helluva conference.....

Even if we finish much higher, which I expect us to do, I still think we are in
one of the more entertaining and competitive BB conferences there is....

Someone at ESPN is saying the AAC may be a one bid league this year. OOC play needs yo step up and prove them wrong.

Not having a sure fire top 25 team will hurt the conference's exposure this season. Hopefully someone ( TULSA ) can step up.

Way back in October I said that TU would finish a couple games over 500 at season's end. This elicited this response by a fellow TU fan. I would like to say that I was wrong. TU finished 4 games over 500. I would also like to say that I am not a "big guy" and I may not know crap about hoops, but I have watched TU basketball for 50 years and have seen the good, the bad, and at times the ugly. I also think that disparaging other fans opinions is unbecoming.
