Baseball notes from the week and ahead,

-Tulane is now 5-6 on the season
-Raging Cajuns who visit us this week are 9-4 and took 2-3 from Tulane. The third Tulane game was a 3-2 loss
-Grambling who also visits this week is now 0-7
-Eastern Michigan visits this weekend. They are 4-2 w/ 2 wins over AL St and split 4 games against Bellarmine, whoever that is.
-Mike Martin Jr starts off at 4-5 in the early season at Florida St., ouch
-Longhorns now 7-5
-War Eagles lose 2-3 to Boston College
-Corn Dogs lose 2-3 to Oral Roberts
-Golden Eagles now 6-5
-Univ of Northern MS takes 3 from mighty Belmont, 2 of the wins were of the 1 run variety against 3-5 Belmont
-There is actually a university called "Dixie State"? If that was in MS they would have to close the doors. It's in Utah and 0-7 on the season.

We play Grambling, Jackson State, MS Valley, Southern. When the season's over, how many spots do these games cost us in the RPI as opposed to playing teams like La Tech or Memphis?

How is the MUW baseball team doing this season?

There are still two unbeaten teams in the SEC. USC is 10-0 against 8 cupcakes but beat Clemson twice. They have a series @ Texas coming up. Arky is 10-0 with a good first weekend and then 7 patsies. Vandy has not played anybody but managed to lose a game against GA State.

Everybody plays a few of these kind of teams. At least we upgraded this week with Kent State versus Tenn Tech.

Bellarmine is in their first year in D1. They’re in the Atlantic Sun— Catholic university in Louisville— and not the one in the same county as Noxapater.

Their men’s basketball team won the regular season A-Sun title but don’t qualify for the Dance since they’re transitioning from D2.

Lafayette's loss to Tulane was the first game, not the third. I only point that out because while Tulane is 5-6, they are 3-0 on Fridays, which is when they beat us.

Olthoff is legit. 2020 Collegiate Baseball All-America Second Team. Also in 2020: Ranked second in the NCAA in wins, third in strikeouts, fourth in complete games, sixth in WHIP, (0.54) 14th in strikeout/walk ratio (15.67) and 15th in K/9 (15.11).

Dixie State is in Utah. They are considering a name change. It's been in the news lately. University was started by some southerners who moved out there a ling time ago.
