Baseball lineup/rotation for 2022

Anyone feel like taking a crack at it? Realize there's a whole draft still and covid will play its part on eligibility too. Curious what our lineup and rotation will look like for next year. TIA

Hard to say at this point just because of the draft but I think Sims gets stretched out and is possibly the Friday night starter.

Baseline Lineup:

1) McDonald - CF
2) James - 3B
3) Clark - 1B
4) Hancock - DH
5) Tanner - C
6) Meche - 2B
7) Cumbest - LF
8)8) McGowan - RF
9) Forsythe - SS

Pitching Rotation:
1) Sims
2) Fristoe
3) C. Smith

Other pitchers:
1) Tepper
2) Carmouche
3) B. Smith
4) Lovett
5) Simmons
6) Hunt

This takes into account no freshmen or JUCOs/transfers, and assuming that a bunch of the juniors/seniors move on (many are borderline, like Stinnett, Tullar, Johnson, etc.). That's a lineup that can get back to Omaha. Because of the talent level, I expect many to make a forward progression.

I know nothing about the incoming class so I don't know what to expect there as far as day 1 starters.

We may also get Macleod back, but I don't expect it.

I was not even considering him coming back until I heard something in a press conference that indicated that may be a possibility. I think it was Lemonis that eluded to him getting better and next year he will have that much more experience but could be just coach speak.

I expect some freshmen to start. Several teams in the World Series had some excellent freshmen and this incoming class has some studs.

I hope a summer in the Cape can help Skinner. He’s such a weapon in the outfield and on the bases

Only change I would make is Hancock 2 hole, James 3, Clark 4. Breaks up the lefties and puts your least strikeout guy directly behind your most productive hitter in the leadoff.

Yeah there are some guys like Skinner, Leggett, Patrick, Harding who may come back or may just move on from baseball. Who knows. Hard to see any of those guys really making a big jump, in my opinion. Skinner is the most likely I guess.

Baseball America has him as the #387 overall prospect, which would put him in that Round 12-15 range. I think the biggest knock on him is arm strength (believe he had some type of major shoulder surgery in high school), therefore he might not have an MLB position unless he figured out how to play 2B or something in the minors.

Anyway, that’s right in that gray area where it probably depends on the signing bonus and also on whether or not Rowdey is just ready to move on after 4 years.

I don't think he did well enough to be drafted high enough to leave. Who knows though, MLB scouts may disagree.
